Default NEW Comparison Test! '02 C5Z vs '10 C6 LS3 GS vs '11 C6 Z06!

http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/...and-video.html

Imagine if the '02 Z actually had something other than bald tires on all 4 corners .

Some good current tires & few minor suspension adjustments.....the results may have been a little different!

I agree, put some new tires on the car and let it eat.

not sure why they didn't put new tires on the C5Z and test it against the new vettes. Stupid as all hell to me. After a few years the F1 supercars are crap. When I had bought my c5Z that is the first thing I replaced.

Lets hope they put new tires on the C5Z and retest it. Car is 8 years old and still keep up, if not outrun the new vettes. Amazing.

Shows how formidable the old C5 Z06 was. Less power but less weight = same acceleration as current 436hp Grand Sport.

C5Z is the bang for the buck victor today, but keep in mind that it was a $50K car brand new too. Back in 2002. In today's money, that would probably be closer to $55K. LS3 base Corvette performs the same, but costs less than the C5Z did new. I'd say technology has gotten better for sure.

Seems like a complete waste of time if there didn't at least put some fresh rubber on the C5Z.

It really wasn't a fair test at all without updated rubber on the older Z. Very much like testing a mid year 427 big block on its original radial tires versus a base 2002 Corvette in a drag race. Tires would make it a much closer race obviously.

you could make several arguments about the video.....horrible launch in the c6z06 at the dragstrip, and if i recall stock z06s trap higher than 123 with a descent driver.

To me is like this. If you know that an older car is going to come close to performing close to an 85K car why the hell would you give that advantage or show that on any video. That would confirm my argument that I can go buy a C6Z and have a payment or buy a old C5Z, not have a car payment and with a few upgrades to include H/C and suspension am running with a newer ZO6 and I just bought the older Z for about 25K invest 10K and am kicking ***.

This video was a waste of time and biased at best.

The C5z performs very good for the money but people seem to be overlooking the creature comforts, and safety, advantages the C6 vettes have. Not to mention slightly better interior and the majority can be had with a warranty still.

Plus on the road the C6s are much more comfortable for long hauls.

I cant believe they are going to make a ZO6 Carbom, it will add about 10k to the price of the regular Z. I got 10k off the sticker on my 09 and I couldnt even trade it in for 60k. Good luck spending 90k on a ZO6.
