Yes, if you want an overdirve auto that's the one to get out of a late model 3500 truck. It is basically a th400 with an extra gear. www.pro-touring.com look in the auto trans section it'll help alot. Andy

Talk to Carl Rossler, Extreme Automatics about building a trans, or the Vette Doctors about who builds their trannies. I believe EA and Rossler have built 4L60/65Es that're withstanding near 1000rwhp. The 80E will definatly handle the power, but Im not 100% as to if it'll fit under the C5...should and may take some BFH work and a 12 pack, but it should fit.

The c5 auto is capable of 450 ft lbs of torque to the wheels, anything more and your pushing your luck.
The 8 second LPE twin turbo c5 1000hp has a beefed auto tranny.
FLP can build you anything.Just bring your wallet.

Probably the 80e. That tranny is pretty much a th400 with an over drive. Another option is a TH400 with a gear vendors. That would give you 6 spd auto cause you have the half gear in 1, 2, and 3.

I dont think it was the 80E, I think it was a built 65E by Rossler in the TT 427 anyway. I know there's been some other major HP LPE cars that've been converted to auto's that I believe have used 60/65Es. I think Major Spray on the forum also has a built 65E aswell, but Im not sure by who.

That 4l80E will not fit without MAJOR<MAJOR modifications and you are stuck with a beefed up 4L65E and CHuck Johnson at FLP builds one of the best and is probably the most popular choice for BEEFED up A4 trannys on the forum and his customer service is GREAT and he stands behind his PRODUCT big time and is a SUPER NICE GUY!!. Give him a call and tell him i said "HEY". Carl Rossler also has a fine reputation but BRING A BIG CHECK BOOK if you go that route!!!!!!!!!!!!

500rwhp NA 600+ w/juice.....
$3500+ but it came with the car when I got it
I suggest you call FLP & Rossler and decide that way. I have been to FLP and they have a good setup as well but I think Carl has been doing them and a few others longer.....http://www.rosslertrans.com/

You are not in the wrong business. I have seen some pretty CRAZY prices lately when it comes to built trannies for C5's. Anything below $3k seems to be out of the norm when it comes to power levels I will see almost every weekend. My next biggest question is reliability. The last thing I want to do is keep pulling out the tranny every month. My car does not see track time at this moment. I plan on a stall less than 3800. I want something that can be used for slow roll racing. Like say 40 to 50mph rolls and come on like a freight train..
