Agreed Mello, but I consider you one of the rare C5 owners that actually likes to learn about internal motor workings and all-out tech info. Most of the C5 guys seem to just be happy discussing Zaino, seat covers, and catbacks. Where are those hardcore C5 owners at???

Maybe they do not realize we all share the same motor and that our engine section would actually be useful for them?

ITs really hard to explain... I sympathize with both camps...

#1, my SS is always getting modified, its mean, its obscene, its all around awesome. It is not refined, it isnt all the comfy. But its damn fast 0-100.

#2, my c5 is none of those things. From 50-150, its wicked quick, its really really refined, and its incredibly comfortable. Likely an even better road course car than the F-body.
Other than handing it over to MTI for a the usual top end stuff, Im afraid to touch it. I really really dont want to "un-refine" it. I absolutely love it the way it is, although I would love some more torque (SC?). I even replaced the B&B with a Z)6 exhaust so it would quiet down.

And yeah, Im fanatical about Zaino on the vette. The SS? Its clean, I think.
I dont know which I like more for the things I use them for, but I sure treat them differently. I think its pretty obvious why other C5 owners arent into alot of the hardcore tech stuff.

I know how you feel. I'll be getting an 88 IROC 5 speed in a week or two to tinker with over winter. I'm hoping I can use this car to satisfy my urges to tinker without worrying about putting an expensive C5 outa commission. Maybe in the process, I'll learn enough to actually give me the confidence to mess with my C5 more .

Well.. I forwarded the URL around a bit.

Ya, I don't understand why more C5's aren't into more serious power, but they are there.

But they prob haven't broken their timing chain, gone thru 3-4 clutches and rebuilt their tranny twice either. LOL. But mine is mostly bad luck.

Did find a killer new Extended Warranty that allows work at Any ASE shop. ie: MTI, ARE. That'd be a nice place to go for Warr work, eh?

Slightly off-topic, but:

I'm here at least once per day. I don't post that often, usually only when I have something to contribute. Every time I'm here, I read this section, as well as the engine, NOS & truck sections. I check a few other every few days.

Haven't broken a timing chain or a tranny yet (although 1st gear syncro is going). I've been through 3 stock clutches in my '98 & now have a Mcloud dual disc in it.

The only Zaino I use is the leather stuff, the exterior stuff is too much work.

I'll do light work on my own stuff, but larger tasks go straight to MTI. Definitely on the "Top 5" customer list.

I have passed the URL along to a few places so far, I'll get back on it.

I'm just finishing up a nasty project at work, hopefully I'll have some more time to talk tech with you guys in the next week that I have in the past few.

I've got an MTI cam sitting in the box here at work. My next major purchase will be headers, but with all the new ones coming out now I dont think there is a clear cut best set of headers right now.

Thankyou guys! We need some more hardcore C5 owners on this site like yourselves. We aren't looking for the showcar and non-performance type guys that love stock Corvettes, this site might bore them LOL.

Where is SW at? Ram Air Tony? Snowman? and a ton of other guys....

Right now installing a ripper shifter or cold air intake is as advanced as I can muster . Going to be diving into my IROC's engine over winter (doing heads) and then after that hope to look into installing heads and cam on my C5. Not sure what's involved in that, but that's what this forum is for - finding out .

Strangely enough , most of the people who buy Chevrolet's best performance car , are not perfomance oriented. I've actually read a thread where the guy was trying to figure out how to drive his new Z06 without invoking the traction control! WTF?! I've owned my car for three months and it's been to the track 5 times already. I think a street legal race car should be treated as such.

From the look of the Corvette with the fancy paint job, you have more wrapped up in the exterior of your vette than I have in all of my mods together
And I suspect, as many great things you do have in your garage with MTI all over them, being an MTI top5 means more than just 4 or 5 MTI engines ;-) There are folks there in Austin and in Houston that were bringing breifcases of cash to Jason back in the 5.0 liter/LT1 days....and they still are But then hey... I meet new people all the time.

I still reason that I dont do too many mods to the C5 is that my SS has been at MTI for several months now *straight*....;-) No big deal. Its not their fault and its winter here. It just keeps grenading on the dyno.
I think all C5 owners that like to play with the LS1 hard core should keep an F-bod to play on...

There are a few of us LS1 hardcores with Vettes out there... We just dont have too many questions.
Jeremy just keeps "announcing" stuff.
