Default largest tire on stock Z06 rims

I just got an '03 Z06 2 weeks ago and am wondering what is the largest tire that can go on the stock rear rims. I think that they are 18X10.5 right? I'm guessing I could go as large as a 305 safely. I know that an 11 inch rim is safely recommended to accommodate a 315 width. I'm running 295/35/18's out back now, but I definitely want to go wider next time I buy tires. A friend told me that I could run 315's on a 10.5 rim, but I don't want it mushrooming out or looking sloppy, or most importantly the safety factor. How large can I go the 10.5 rim? Will a 305 work? Thanks.

Thanks for the link, but it doesn't address a 305.
10.5" ... +38 to +50 mm .... 285, 295
11.0" ... +45 to +56 mm .... 315
Can I run a 305 on a 10.5?

it surely does:

18"x10.5" +50 to +53 mm. Higher than 53 mm will require the BFH mod. 285/35R18s thru 315/30R18. Over 295 may require rolling the fenderlip and will need the BFH.

I'm pretty sure with the right offset you can run a 315 on the back with no need to alter brake ducts. Any higher and I think you have to remove them.

I run Nitto 335/18 drag radials on my stock rear 10.5" wheels. No rubbing issues and they grab like a MF. Im not using all of the outside thread however because honestly they are a little wide for a 10.5" rim. I got a great deal on these tires used or I would have went with a BFG 315 drag radial which fits great.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. With my '00 Camaro SS I had to roll the fender lips with an Eastwood Fender Roller/heat gun, and due to BFH mod. I don't think I'll go larger than 305 on the Z, because I don't want to have to do that again.....although it wasn't hard and turned out great.

Los, I personally think that 305 is the widest I would go with 10.5. I think that a 315 is pushing it, but that is my personal opnion.

A 315 BFG fit absolutely great, I actually had 335 Pilot Sports on before the nitto 335s. The Pilot sports fit fine, and were actually not as wide as the nittos! many people run 315s with great results, that is probably the ideal width....
