I got 150-175 DR passes per C5Z06 clutch.

You probably just glazed yours on that pass by too much slip on the launch. When the clutch cools, it's gnerally fine again.

But I'd suggest you start doing the standard maintenance on your clutch fluid.

sorry but the z06 clutch is crap. doesnt take the abuse for long, and will eventually start to "stick"

maintenance? hard to bleed the system without doing a clutch swap pretty much!

i ran the SPEC 3+ for a while, which wasnt that bad. now im using the RAM HD, and im more than happy with it! seems to take the abuse very well, and the clutch/flywheel kit VERY reasonably priced.

I like my clutch. I know I spent a lot of money but it is awesome, and will handle the next motor. (408 procharged, 12 psi) I am running the Exedy twin plate.

I agree with Ranger. I ran two years with LT's and Dr's at 3-5 runs per week on my stock clutch. Anyways I am about to order a Spec 5 once I find a good price.

Check into the Aussie clutch or RPS. Lots of posts on them, do a search. Best 2 clutches on the market right now IMO. BTW I run an Exedy twin.

Don't get the SPEC brand man. We had two corvettes that were both totaled due to pressure plates coming apart, at high RPM.

Highly recommend anyone BUT them.

I'd try RMS....EXEDY....RAM....etc etc.

The amount of damage, exceeds the total value of the worth of the car.

For example...my car, had 18,000 dollars in parts alone on my car. Not even labor is included in that. The other car, still hasn't been totaled yet but,...we'll see. The exact same damage that was inflicted on my car, was done on the other. There identical in damage.

Scary? I guess. No time to be scared, you have no warning. Just BOOM. and hope that your able to get the car to a stop. Then after you stop it...make sure you don't have a fire from all the severed lines......like my buddies car did.

Some foul ****.

This is a very subjective topic, but Spec, Ram, Exedy & Mcleod are all good.

I ran a Mcleod in my fromula for quite some time. By far the best clutch I have ever driven on the street and the track. Once the nitrous hits the FRC I plan on using the mcleod again.

Hey, Ram-it.

Have you made any passes with the LS7 clutch yet?

If so, what kind of launch rpm did the clutch take and have you had any pedal issues yet?

The C6Z owners have found the LS7 clutch to be quite flakey on launch above 3500. The pedal hangs and the clutch glazes. Surprising, because the LS6 clutch was much more robust at normal power levels.

So I'm interested in your experience with the LS7 clutch.

With 500+ passes in C5Z06, I have some experience with the stock clutches. If the rwhp is within 380, the clutch should give 150-175 launches at 4000-4200 rpm.

If you have clutch pedal issue with a stock LUK clutch, then you might want to start the maintenance routine on the fluid in the clutch hydraulics.

With that in mind, here are three clutch fluid issue threads to review:

Clutch Pedal Woes--Fluid Impact

C6Z06 Clutch Hydraulic Fluid--the Chevy Spec

Clutch Pedal Woes--Fluid Changing Kit

I was wondering how many miles on your clutch, your driving style, and what kind of power you are putting to the clutch. I am making 473 rwhp and 431 rwtq. Hope my final tune yields 480/440 hp/tq at wheels. I have driven 4000 miles since the Exedy was installed, and no issues. How about you. Hope to hear from ya. Thanks.

I have about 400 miles on the new ram twin disk with upgraded ceramic metalic pucks. It is a little graby on normal street driving but it seems to hold for now. We will se when I put 20-25 psi of boost to it. This clutch is rated at 1200 horses by ram.
