My FRC has 116K on the clock. Problem to date have been, Evaporator drain clogged (30 sec fix), RF wheel hub made a little noise, Little cracks on the radio *****, and a clutch. The motor sees a 200 at least once a week and has not complined once. Biggest thing is to look over the car really good before you buy it. Check all fluids, how old the person was and how it was driven.

I've got a 98 vette that has 140,000 miles on it. The only problem I have had is the water pump. Replaced it and she runs fine. I race her every other weekend and never misses a beat. Doesn't use oil, everything runs great. Ive had her for three years and she runs great. 12.9 1/4 mile on street tires. Exhaust and twin cone k&n intake only.

mine has 82k . kinda low by these standards. has over 50 track days on it, needed a rebuild when it had 80 k, overrev. on teardown there were no unusual wear items. Have replaced tranny , ( locked up at Rd ATL coming into 10 a . diff to 3. 73 , radiator, water pump , all the wheel bearings as well as a complete AP racing brake kit and new suspension ,

Weak points valve springs, wheel bearings , check oil pressures , radiator cleanliness ( amazing amount of crud in there when i changed out to the new one ) . replace seat foam

You never know how the previous owner drove it. I have seen 100k + mile vettes run well for a long time, and I have seen vettes with less then 100k not last at all.

As long as the price is a lot lower than a car with say 50-75k miles then it's up to you.

Thats quite a few miles. I think any car over 100k starts to have little stuff go wrong with it. As long as the price is right and you can turn a wrench I say go for it.

I've been considering some older/higher mileage vette's as well. My search goes on though.

106,XXX miles right now,...making over 450wheel horsepower..... has the go juice as well..... my right rear wheel bearing is making noise now but, it's not hard to fix.

I have been through the top half of the motor,...but everything on the bottom seems good. No issuse,...even with the abuse that I inflict on it daily.

Hell, I was doing 150mph not pushing her just 20 minutes ago.

Routine maintenance, on ANY vehicle will prolong the life of the vehicle.

I would try and get as less miles as possible but.....in the end, depending on what youur plans for the car are....it might not be a big deal.

Personally, i'm a mechanic,....and I really don't care that the car has 100+ miles on it.

Honda's an do it,...why can't a vette?

sorry my post is fairly late... i don't get on LS1tech much anymore... 116.5k on the clock.. making just shy of 400whp. I had wishshield washer fluid pump die on me this last week.. my front tire sensors dont' respond (age) my tranny drips.. ('ll be fixing that here soon) my leather looks great except for the mess i made on FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!!!!!

Otherwise cammed it gets 30 on the highway and 16ish in town. This car is my DD,I trust it enough to drive 2 hours to a track, make 20 passes and drive home all in the same day, SCREW TRAILERS!!!!!
