Default 35.2 mpg on the Cedar Point trip Allngn_c5's car

Chris ( cgillies86 ) and I went to Cedar Point yesterday and it was almost 100* out. The car performed flawlessly. A couple little glitches but nothing out of the ordinary. I got awesome Highway gas mileage as expected, even with the A/C blowing at max. Gotta love how the c5 corvette handles whatever you toss at it.

Just wanted to post up that these high powered cars get great gas mileage too and how important the u/d pully and Meziere ewp are when it comes to getting the unbelievable gas milage. * As long as you leave the cruise on. Other then that forget it. LOL

Made quite a statement as I pulled in with Chris, lots of people stopped dead in their tracks and just stare. Love the reactions. Driving home in the cooler air she got great gas mileage as well. Love this car.

For those familiar with Cedar Point, it was great. Rode everything !! Millenium Force twice and the new ride the Maverick is wicked !!!

I average 19.2mpg around town and 32mpg on the highway. 32mpg was without cruise control and A/C on.

been averaging like 21-23 mix of city and highway w/ my stock '99 c5, both getting into her and babying her. can't complain since my Camaro got 14-15 if I was lucky.

I was very happy with the numbers, and yes the EWP does help especially when paired with the u/d pully.

I got 29 mpg on my trips to Ubly with AC on and a A4 with 3:73 gears after my H/C install. I'm getting 18 mpg in the city. These are DIC readings. I think actual milage may be a couple of mpg less. Still the vettes give outstanding milage. Can't beat it.

Mine was actual. I filled up completely on the way back from Cedar Point. Did the math and came up with 35.2 mpg. Unbelievable how much cruise control and a ud pully plus EWP make a difference in fuel economy.

Don't forget C.R. ,I'm running 11.2 and it looks like you may be even higher than that.

My compression is 11.4 to 1 maybe a touch more. Without flycutting they had it figured at 11.8 to 1. Got a very good seal this time around using the .040 cometic gaskets.

how the hell do u guys get that kind of mileage? I only got 28 mpg BEST hwy when my 01 Z06 was bone stock. Cruise control was set to 75 MPH.

I think some of you guys are mistaken, either that your your on cruise control at 55 MPH the whole way.

First things first.......a well tuned h/c bolton setup inhales and exhales more efficiently then a stock ls1/ls6. The Meziere EWP and ASP u/d pully reduce the load on the engine quite a bit. I also have the super light weight Carbon Fiber drive shaft that is a big decrease in rotational mass in the drive line. I am using a built rear end DTE's Stg III with 3.42's. Micro polished gears, cryo treated etc etc, less friction then a stocker. No cats, no mufflers, big improvement on exhaust flow. I fill up my car and top it off. I refill my car when I get back and top it off. I divide the miles driven by the gallons required to refill the tank and thats how I get my MPG. I don't use the instant display. To get the best gas mileage in my car I set the cruise control at 80 mph and I consistently get 30-35 mpg actual gas mileage. The instant display is usually reading 36-40. With that being said, when I put my foot into it I get low single digit. Double edged sword.

Yea, I've never had better than 26.9 cruisin' at 75-80 in 6th gear...that kind of mileage is amazing.

I was about to call BS until you said you were not using the DIC and actually calculating your MPG based on # of miles driven and actual fuel used.

I still don't understand how some FI guys, especially supercharged ones, are getting MPG in the high 20's low 30's.

I don't drive like an animal but I don't drive like a senior citizen either. I get an average 15-17 MPG driving around town and 17-20 MPG on the highway. Thats driving normal and not 'trying' to conserve fuel. Just normal driving, you know spinning the tires in 2nd or 3rd around town and down shifting to 5th on the HW and punching it every once and a while.
Its a good thing I didn't buy this car because I wanted to save money on gas.

I keep telling everyone that the ASP ud pully and Meziere EWP is more about gas mileage then power. They work very well at FREEING up a few hp/tq at the rear wheels but from what I have seen driving back from Texas and taking other long trips with the car, gas mileage was the biggest benefit of those two mods. c5 owners, if you have these 2 mods or plan on getting them, take the gas mileage challeng. I drove from Detroit to Chicago and back on the same tank of gas. Had no worries of running out. I get into 6th gear and set the cruise at 80 mph then just sit back and enjoy the ride. Make sure your air filter is clean. A dirty filter will cause your numbers to drop. When my numbers drop I know its time to wash the K&N. Good luck.

I have the ud pulley and Mezier elect wp too, but I still get maybe 27mpg at best when just cruising at 75-80 or even at 70 w/cruise control set in 6th gear...not complaining...still great mileage for a modded bolt on motor.
