Default stuck in the 10's

went up to the track yesterday with hopes of getting in the 9's. had a pretty good headwind and defiently not the greatest d/a. everybody seemed to be down 2-3 mph including me with a best n/a time of only a 10.61@127. hit it with a 100 shot and managed a best of a 10.05@134.26 on the limiter for a couple 100 ft along with a couple more 10.0x's. best 60' was a 1.43. not sure why i couldnt get a better one since i was cutting a 1.45 n/a. im pretty sure it was blowing through the converter on the spray and i was out of gear so i didnt try upping the shot. anyways it was a good day at the track and i drove 85+ miles each way.
Big thanks to Jim for some awesome pics

Did you do any plug readings, I bet she was very rich with the 38. Are you running stock fuel pressure?

Curt,

Car looked good on the launch! What gear is in your 12 bolt? It is hard to believe it is running out of gear!

Curt,

It appears to me those are 28 inch tires, so now I am confused on how you are on the limiter! I am sure based on the NA MPH you have in the sig the car is clearly working and the engine is making good power! What is the race weight? What do you have your limiter set at?

My 2 cents worth is you should not go with 3.42 gears, if you want to change go with 3.90's no less then 3.73's!

I am running 4.11 gears as well! Not sure why my car 60 foots so well but it has been a lot of hard work and seems to be getting the job done, I am very pleased with how it is working!

Good luck on getting that 9 second slip and congrats on making the 170 mile round trip and having a safe day at the drag strip!

yeah they are 28's. my rev limiter is set at 6900 and im on it for around 200ft at 134mph on the spray. raceweight is 3450. i went with the 3.42 gear so that i will have plenty of gear to trap around 150 someday

That gear change is huge. Like 500 or more lower rpm on big end. I am going from 3.50 to 3.90 and that should add 500 more rpm. Have you used a calculator?

yeah i have, im not really doing the gear change for the bottle, this will be the last year on spray and then its getting a set of twins. looks like i will be going with 3.73's instead. should be optimal on the spray tho

I think you might be blowing through your converter.

I went 10.008@133 MPH, 1.38, 3300 raceweight, 4.11, 28" slicks, 4800 8" stall, 7000 rpm shift points, 150 wet shot. I was nowhere near hitting 7k on the limiter. Combo ran 10.92@122.5 NA on a 1.48 at that point.

i have the limiter set at 6900. according to the calc. 4.11 with 28" tires @6900 will do 139 so thats about 96% efficiency for the converter which is about right?

I will say that I did a converter swap in Camaro, went from a Fuddle 4800 to a Vig 4800, and the car went slower on spray and on motor. And the Vig was looser. I swapped back in the Fuddle and it regained the lost ET. I liked the 4.10's I'd do a converter swap first if it was me.
