Default New best... X-pipe only C5 on ET Streets

Went back to Cecil yesterday due to weather being nice (high 60s all morning with 50% humidity). Car is a 1999 FRC with only a Borla X-pipe and a set of M/T ET Streets. Previous best was a 12.97 at 110mph on a 2.1 60ft in the heat of July.

First pass of the day I didnt launch too well, and kissed the limiter on the 2-3 shift. Still came away with a 12.99 at 111.21mph. OK, nice, so I botch a run and get a new best mph... today is gonna be a good day. Let the car cool for about an hour, heated up the Mickey's and came away with this:

Wow! I was floored! Blew away my previous best by .4 and 2mph! Tried to duplicate the run on my final pass, but I launched too soft and only went 12.77 at 111mph on a 1.96 60ft. Still, 12.5s at 112 out of a stock car is pretty awesome. I can't wait to see what this thing can do on a 30* day in Nov!

A few photos of the car in the staging lanes:

Wow! I will be happy with a 12 anything on a drag radial in my '99 FRC. I have a cold air intake and catback. Waiting for decent air since it has been around 1800 DA around here on Friday nights. It's finally starting to cool down, though.

Looks like you have a catback as well. Nice time! Is the car tuned?

No catback. Exhaust manifolds, cats, and catback are all stock peices. The factory catback has some polished, clip on tips. I know these came from the factory on the later years of the C5s, but not sure about the 99s. Either way, they're just for looks and don't add any power.

The only mod is a 2.5" Borla X-pipe. Only reason I installed that is the factory H-pipe had cracked and was falling off the car. No tune, no K&N, no aftermarket anything other than the X-pipe and a set of 275/40/17 Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radials

I stand corrected!

Nonetheless that's a great time. A tune would wake the car up a lot, just food for thought!

Around 2800 - 3000 rpms on that particular run. When I go back in a few weeks I'm gonna try a bit higher.

Id so like to throw a Vararam, LS6 manifold, headers, and a catback on this thing then get it tuned... but I'm gonna keep it as is and see what I can get out of it in the late fall when the DA here on the east coast dips into the negatives. Then, over the off season, I'll start throwing parts at it

I'm liking 3,500 rpm and a clutch dump on those m/t's.

Dump the clutch at 3,500 on a sticky track with the IRS and you may be pushing it back off and onto a trailer. Slipping the clutch yields much better results.

Congrats to the OP on your run.
