Default Summer H/C Results

Unfortunately I do not have any exact DA numbes, but if you know anything about Texas from May - September its VERY HOT (high 80's to high 90's) and HUMID (80-100%). Since some people think us "faster cars" only run in the cooler weather I thought I would post my results from this summer. Raceweight on these runs were about 3350# give or take a little depending on more or less gas and me or my husband were in the car.
'm pretty happy with the results. Things I think I need to work on is cutting some better 60' and I really think the car would benefit from a taller tire, with the 4.10 gears. Oh, BTW, the car is still running the stock untouched trans and rearend.

Those are some nice #'s and I hope to be close to that with my new R1 cam set up. My tranny is slipping bad in the 1-2 & 2-3 shift's but it still made 412 rwhp and it will barley shift into 3rd. I think it will pull 420 -430+ after tranny is freshened up next week. Keep up the good work.

How the hell did you manage to run those drag radials without ripping apart your stock rear?

Nice times Lynda. I've been wondering how your car was doing in the heat. You need to take it out to the LS1 Tech race they have down there on Thursdays, show the guys how its done

I took mine out tonight, here are my traction limited best.

1.605
4.624
74.62
7.172
95.02

1.597
4.606
74.42
7.182
90.17 on the brakes, should have been 7.15@95.x

The DA was around 2500.

These times are on ET Drags. I see you have a 6-speed, the automatic is alot more forgiving on the rear end and other parts, than a 6-speed, also our raceweight is quite a bit lower than stock weight cars which also helps.

We have been wanting to go out there, but Clint works nights and we have not had a chance to get out. Maybe one day he will take off, who knows.
Good to see your car is doing well.

Nice summer time numbers. I have been running 11.50s-11.40s@116 all summer with DAs being from 2500-3100.

Donald, looks like your running 11.30s by how my 1/8th mile show on the 11.47 run that i have. I have been running 7.33-7.26@93+ in the 1/8th mile. Come Octoboer i'll head back to hallsville with a lighter car so maybe we can meet up and have a heads up race for fun.

Awesome times. I have heads/cam and 100 shot and I still can't go down the 1/4 that quick.

You said your race weight was 3350. What do you figure a fully optioned Z28 with no weight reduction, 1/4 tank of fuel and a 200 pound guy in it weighs?

7.15 should work out to 11.27 in my car. I definatly want to get back out to Hallsville when some good weather blows in. I'd love to do some close heads up racing

Sweet times in the heat Lynda. Your Z is flying! Looks like your converter is "Yanking" the tires.

LOL Lynda, go check the weather at WeatherUnderground.com for Houston on those dates. The only day the barometer was below 30 was June 13. High 80s- high 90s and 80-100 humidity? If you say so hun.

I looked up the DA for the dates you posted. I used just used Baytown's info for 7PM as the times of your runs asuming you were running in the evening. I don't know what the exact elevation is at HRP, I figured 0 (sea level).

May 7th +1125, May 16th +1600, June 13th +2100, Aug 15th +1200.

Congrats. Your car runs well in not so great air.

So I guess you saw that the temps and humidity wasn't quite what she quoted. lol

But one thing's for sure, you guys get some freaky weather in TX, higher DAs in March than in August.
