Default Just watched a 6 speed Viper run 8's all day!!

Well he ran ONE 9.08 at 164mph, but that lane sucked and he got out of the hole terrible. The best pass I saw today was 8.75 at 168mph. I think he holds the 6 speed record with a IRS. The car is a Twin Turbo car. What was really surprising it was the quietest car out of the bunch. I have to admit Vipers ride out. A bunch of them ran 9's and 10's all day. Not many running 11's and some non drivers running 12's and 13's. The SRT-10 truck with slicks ran a 12 flat if I remember correctly, but the others on street tires were running mid to high 13's all day..

Vince, you didn't get a chance to ask him what was done to the T56 to handle those levels of power did you? Anyone know?

I was close enough to hear the guy mention something about G-Force. I looked at the shifter and it looks just like ours and I watched him go down the track and his nose bobbed up and down just like ours. I think he has a website with all the specs. I will ask around to see what I can find Tony. This guy supposedly lives in Sarasota, Florida which is 30 minutes from me.

Ahh, those G-Force trannys are custom built. Most of the internals are upgraded custom pieces. NOT cheap

http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-56.asp

I think they cost around $3800

I just want to know why those V-10's sound so weird. At the end of the event. I cranked my car up and everyone within 50 feet turned around and looked at my ride. All were shaking their heads Even the crowd that was with the 8 second car turned when I went by. You have to love the sound of a LS1 based motor with Borla Stingers.

To me, those vipers sound like a cross between a V8 and a V12. Sometimes they have a deeper grumble and then sometimes when they a get on it they have a higher pitched scream. By the way, there is a vid in the multimedia section of a viper (possibly the same one being discussed) running an 8.xxx at about 163.

Its still a T56 GM. Guess Heffner had the car running good down in FL huh?

I can stop by the tomorrow and see what he has in it, but its still a normal synchroed T56, the owner drives it around. He has a T400 for it, but hes scared of going 7s I guess

That car is very sick, but I will get more information on that tranny. Many of us heard another guy ask about the tranny and one of the guys that works on that car said G-Force Transmissions. I seriously doubt a stock T56 GM tranny would handle over 1000rwhp. Also, why would a GM T56 be in a Viper when Viper has it's own T56

Vince, the Vipers sound like *** typically (high pitched whiny sound) because they have tiny cylinders. Larger V10 engine, but smaller cylinders. Kinda like two and a half pissed off Civics tied together with two large fart pipes.

I was out there for TNT also, and I agree! They sound like ***! to me! Of course most of them were haulin azz! I got lined up against one of the slow ones twice in a row right at the end of the day-beat him both times I missed third the first run, but I think he did too. The 2nd run was my best-12.64@111.88. He gave me a really pissed off look after the 2nd run
Was pleased with my car though, it's got a 12.5 in it if I can relearn how to leave with my new clutch. Best 60' was a 1.92 on Nitto's. Now gotta get the gas hooked up!

No vids currently. The car is setup very nicely. it has a 4 link in it. lamb drag brakes, alumastar wheels. it had an aluminum truck tranny in it. but it kept destroying that, so now it has a cast iron tranny.

Sounds like a pretty stout setup. You should post pics one day..

As for me running at the track. I do not run my car at the track. I am a spectator when it comes to drag racing at the track. I only run on the street. I am not curious one bit what my car runs at the track. I do know I could have easily placed in the Unlimited category with a 175 shot and slicks Thats if my IRS held together...
