Default Track results with new motor

Finally had a chance to go try the new motor out this past Monday at MIR. The new motor is a 347 with 5.3 heads 11.1, custom hyd cam by Joe O, Fast 90/90 TB and intake, on straight 93 pump gas.
It was a nice and sunny day with temps in the high 60's low 70's. The track was being rented by a group of Turbo Buick guys and they were nice enough to let me join in on the rental.
First run out of the box was a 10.242@131.65 with a lazy 1.44 sixty off the footbrake.
I came back to the pits, broke the laptop out and went to connect it to the car and realized we didn't have the communication cable Dammit, I always seem to forget something. The only tuning that could be done was playing with the fuel pressure.
Second pass was better, 10.202@131.47 with a 1.42 sixty off the footbrake.
Third pass I stalled it pretty high and spun the tires to a 1.73 sixty...wasted run.
Fourth pass decided to try the T-Brake for the first time. To my surprise it hooked and stood the car way up car landed fine with no damage but had me flustered and I missed my shift points, run ended up being a 10.35@129.95 with a 1.36 sixty.
Fifth run netted a 10.268@131.06 with a 1.43 sixty...missed my 2-3 shift point.
Sixth run tried the T-brake again with the shocks tighter and spun to a 10.57@132.95 with a 1.63 sixty (shocks to tight).
By this time the turbo cars had pretty much trashed the track with anti-freeze and oil so I decided to hang it up for the day.
All in all I was satisfied with the shake down runs with the new combo. The motor did well with no unexpected problems or leaks.
With some more track tuning of the motor and suspension the combo looks very promising. I'm expecting better times to come once we get everything squared away and I get use to the new set-up.
A big thanks go out to Lethal EFI Performance/E.B. Porting/The Shop, for an awesome motor !

Congrats man. A 10.202@131.47 with a 1.42 sixty is very sweet.

Looks like Madman & I have some work to do now. We have been 10.29 @ 129.71 with a 1.34 60 foot. With the same size motor.

Good luck on the new set up. What kind of racing do you plan on doing?

We will see if we have something for ya next weekend. Tranz-King just built us a new tranny.

Thanks Coach ! I'm sure when you get your tranny back your car will run quicker with the fresher tranny !
I hope to make a a few of the LS1Tech races this year along with the EFA race series. Other than those I will be running the Mod ET classes at the local tracks or just plain TnT's and track rentals.
The way gas prices are going, traveling will be expensive this year compared to the past

TJ,

Are ya going to try and make the bracket team? Is your track IHRA or NHRA?

LOL ! I hear ya Brian, painted them up last night and they are going on today. I was worried when I skyed it. I was praying that when it came down it wouldn't tear anything up....messed my train of thought up so bad I missed my shift points.

Coach, I doubt I'll be running the points series. Not enough money to run full time unfortunatly. I'm scraping to do what I'm doing now

Clint, Thanks for the compliment ! The new motor dynoed 444/394 on a Mustang dyno with pulls from 65mph on 28" slicks at 14lbs through a TH-400 and 12 bolt. (forgot to air them up)

Not to bad for the 1st time out. 10.20 is great. The MPH is flying. How was it looking at the "stars"?

Good luck this year. Maybe we'll see ya at one of the Series races.

Got them on today Joe ! Better safe than sorry, they are another one of Madmans awesome idea's for sure, you rock Brian !
Joe, I had faith in ya from the get go. Like Eric's saying goes "It aint nuttin but a mota"...You guys did an awesome job !! Even though your an LT1 guy we are all in the same GM family, I hold no grudges like some do.

Silver,
I haven't had the car on any digital scales this year. My buddy that had the 4-point digital scales was killed in a racing accident last year so that option is out now. I'm thinking it's in the 3075-3100lb area. I hope to find out soon.
Checking the weather off the internet site (which I don't trust) it said DA ranged from sealevel to about +500 above. I don't have alot of faith with those numbers though. They always seem to differ from weather stations that are actually at the track by a bunch.

Navy David SS,
the sky was blue, the whole time I was worried I was going to trash my headers and oil pan when it came back down. Madmans insurance bars were installed today, no more worrys like that now.
