Default stock 1/8 mi times?

Just wondering because I was pretty dissapointed w/ my first track times: 9.2 @ 81 mph w/ a 2.3 60ft. Very slick track w/ some shitty stock 16x8 wheels and 245/50's but still dissapointing!! What should I be running because I was expecting 8.6's? All my runs were bone stock, too, not even a lid on the car.

You should be able to cut a 9.0 sec. 1/8th mile time with a 2.3 sec. 60'. Personally I think it's alot easier to get good times with an automatic car. Track conditions play a huge factor, as I find that some of the tracks i've gone to sometimes don't put down VHT for awhile. I believe that you can coerce a 8.4 sec. 1/8 mile out of a well running stock car and good driving skills. Just keep practicing, as i'm sure your times will come down.

no way will you put down 8.4 on a stock ls1/6...on a very well prepped track with lid and catback I only got 2.1 /8.9@80.91mph....just don't think you'll do that good

Launching with a M6 is tough. I've only gotten a best of 8.81 @ 84 with a 2.19 60ft The 2nd best time I have is 8.91 @ 83mph with a 2.2160ft. Gonzo 1 on the board frequents the same tracks as I do with his A4 SS and has run a best of 8.43 with just a predator.

Just curious, but how are you launching?

Not that rare. 2001 ws6 a4 8.48@86.7 2.08 60. Only mods removed spare tire and jack and removed air filter. Slow people always want to hate.

why remove your air filter? how you gonna keep all the debris out of your intake mani w/o a filter? jw, never heard of anyone doing this before.

my best has been a 9.28 @ 78 w/ 2.2 60ft. i've been very disappointed in my times, but my clutch went out the night of my best runs, so i got a stage 2 in it now, hopefully that'll get me in the 8's w/ cooler weather

If you've never heard of it it must never happen.

Some people remove the air filter and stretch panty hose over the base. Remove the restriction of the filter, increase airflow and make more power. I unfortunately didn't have anything to place over the base so I ran nothing. So, if a small furry animal had ran in front of me I would have sucked it up in my intake. Good thing it was under warranty. I would not do it for more than a few trips down the track.

It's not about hating...it's about being realistic.Btw what was your r/t on the run with a 2.0 60 and still running 8.4???? Maybe you have a really nice track, more power to you, but i could bet you most stock guys who've started out with the 8th are not hitting low 8's completely stock.

Your '98 is not going to run with these '01's and '02's. There are differences...

I hope you don't think reaction time effects et because if you do that's pretty stupid. I also would not cosider an 8.48 low 8's that would be mid 8's. I ran over 86 mph that's why it still ran what it did. I've also owned a 99 z28 m6(stock) that did a 8.49 in the 1/8, but that was with a 1.93 60 ft. That 8.4 the ws6 ran was also just the first half of the 1/4 which it ran a 13.08 @ 108. BTW after boltons ,12 bolt and converter it went a 7.42@91 in the 1/8(passenger and rear seats deleted).
