Back from the track in the new SS
I've been waiting all winter to get out and hit the track. With the weather so nice today I couldn't resist the urge to go racing!
Lorie and I packed up Ainsley and the mountains of associated baby gear and headed out to St. Thomas.
There were quite a decent amount of cars there for the first day of the year. 50-60 cars easily.
Got in line teched and made a pass. Car did not hook at all in first or second. I thought it was a 14 second pass. went and got the slip and it was:
13.70 @ 108mph with a 2.4 sixty LOL
Had to adjust the launch technique and give about half to 3/4 throttle in first and roll into second to keep the tire spin down to about 10 feet on the 1-2 shift LOL!
Second pass was better:
13.38 @ 108.70mph on a 2.28 sixty.
Third pass I tried to launch a little more aggressively and spun brutally again. That pass was a 13.56 @ 108.16mph but with a 2.5 sixty this time LOL
final pass I decided to really go gently through first and short shift about 5500rpm to try and keep the tires from spinning through second gear.
This pass was the best:
13.34 @ 108.44 on a 2.237 sixty
I was very happy with how the car felt on the track. With good traction, and a 1.9 sixty 12.8-13.0 will be easy in on street tires.
Ainsley wanted to go for a pass but couldn't reach the pedals
Here is the both of us getting ready to head home

Thanks guys There was a 15mph headwind today but the DA was great: ~305 feet
I am going to check out Grand Bend when it opens. That track HOOKS like a ****.
KP were you running a sticky tire or a stock tire when you broke the rear?
I have been relatively lucky so far. 6 broken rear ends in 4 f-bodies

My car had those optional G-force tires on it and the auburn posi. It broke the spider gears after 5 passes, wheel hoppin like a bitch lol. Car was all stock except for an SLP lid and removed jack/spare. 2.1x was my best 60' I think - been a few years I only had the car for a few weeks and the dealer I bought it from offererd me 3K more then I paid for it to sell overseas and I picked up the red A4 Z28 and put the P1SC on that one - hard to believe that was like 5 years ago..

Wow, your car has got some power. Around here most LS1's are lucky to be trapping in the 104 mph range (I'm at somewhat of altitude). Cute kid btw.
I'm sure with drag radials that you can get 12's outta that car. I didn't know the 345hp models really did have extra power, but it would appear so.

Thanks guys It's hilarious, she LOVES riding in the SS. She stares out the back window grinning away LOL!
I think she'll be into cars like her old man when she grows up
I am already thinking about building her a junior dragster in a few years

You're planting the seeds of evil as we speak........
Good to hear you got back to the track, good luck finding some traction and the 12's!

seems like good times, i did 13.3 at 106 with a 2.2 60ft, i never had a car that had traction problems like this, you got some nice trap speeds compared to me, but you also have an ss and have an ls6 intake.
good runs for a stocker because ive seen a lot of people at my track run their stock f-bods and run high 13s and low 14s
