Default Test-N-tune Friday night results.

I've made a couple of changes, weight reduction mainly, to the SS in the past few weeks so I headed out to the local 1/8th mile to see what, if any difference they made. I ran the MT radials mounted on the Bogarts tonight as my Hoosiers are history. Raceweight tonight with a totally new driver was ~3380 pounds (3200 pound car, 180 pound driver). Temp was 75, dew point was 57, barometric pressure was 29.76. I calculated the DA at 1438 feet. This was at the final pass of the night so I'm sure the DA was just a tad worse when I got to the track. Car cooled off about an hour after driving to the track.

1st pass: New driver did not heat the tires up hardly at all. Launched at 2500 and spun the tires some off the line for about 60'.
60' 1.766
330' 5.001
660' 7.760
MPH 88.951
Not bad I thought for his first time ever in the car. We let the car cool off an hour before trying again.

2nd pass: He heated the tires up even less as he was thinking that they were radials and didn't want any heat in them. Tried 2500 launch again. Oops. Car spun all the way through low and into 2nd.
60' 2.291
330' 5.400
660' 8.068
MPH 88.670

3rd pass: Hot lapped as the track was about to close. My new guy told me he was going to heat the tires up until I waved him out of the burnout box. He heated them up for about 5 seconds before I waved him out. Actually got some tire smoke this time. Anyhow, 2800 launch, no wheelspin. Hit 2nd too early but I'm not sure that hurt the pass significantly.
60' 1.627
330' 4.840
660' 7.587
MPH 89.632
The weight reduction is working. This is about how the car was running in negative DA before. Next round of weight reduction is going to include installing the Pro-Fab K member and A-arms, taking out the passenger side air bag and removing the rear bumper support. Also the AC condenser has gotta go. I'm hoping for a raceweight of around 3250 next time out. I know the air is going to get worse and worse as the season progresses but I'm just hoping to maintain my performance level or possibly go just a tad quicker and faster. I want a spot on the SI list and I just need some good air to do it. It's not going to happen until Fall but I want to have the car ready when the time comes. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like the weight reduction is working. Keep at it. You will get your spot on the SI list very soon. Good luck Brother.

I was in the red Firehawk beside ya in the staging lanes last night. That car sounds great and based on the times you are showing here...looks like you had a great few runs.

Hope to see you out there again...I will be out there next weekend with a few more F-bodies I hope.

See ya on the road,
Matt

You were at Northeast Dragway up in Elizabeth City last night??? Sorry I missed you. The only other F-Body car I saw was a 99 Pewter Z28. I actually ran against that car on two of my passes. I'm at the track every Fiday night for test-n-tune. If you're there, come up and introduce yourself.

Coach: Thanks. It's coming around slowly but surely. I've still got the rear sway bar off and the car is running straight and true but after looking at a pic of the car from the rear on the launch, it does kinda roll over a little more than I'd at first thought. I'll probably do some kind of drag bar on the back instead of the stock sway bar when the time comes.

Went back for another round tonight, 6-16-06. We just could not get our sh*t together tonight. Raceweight again 3380 with my smaller driver. I think I'm asking too much of the MT radials. You just cannot launch them @ 3000 RPM against the converter like with true slicks. The SS spun the tires on the launch on 3 of the 4 passes tonight and on the one time it left good, my driver went from 1st straight into drive. I've got a full manual valve body so it unfortunately shifted into Drive. Anyhow, passes tonight went like this.

1st pass straight off the trailer. Temp was in the upper 70's on this pass. Spun just about a car length off the line. Didn't get enough heat in the tires.

60' 1.623
330' 4.843
660' 7.580
MPH 89.81 Good air=good MPH.

2nd pass after an hour cool down. Once again spun off the line but barely this time.

60' 1.618
330' 4.814
660' 7.559
MPH 89.83

3rd pass put a little more heat in the tires during the burnout. Car finally dead hooked but driver error ruined any chance of a 7.4anything. This is the pass he went from 1st straight to Drive.

60' 1.591 <------Finally.
330' 4.905
660' 7.703
MPH 87.38
I guess it's pretty obvious even if I had not mentioned about the missed shift that something bad happened between the 60' clocks and the 330' clocks.

4th pass hot lapped because of trying to make up for pass #3. Once again the SS spun the radials just a tad off the line.

60' 1.623
330' 4.869
660' 7.605
MPH 90.01 <----Finally back over 90 again.

It's time to regroup here. I'm shooting for the best possible times at the track. That's going to take some slicks. I'm leaning towards some 10" Hoosier slicks and putting in a spool and some 4.10's. I really want to hit some 7.40's or possibly even some 30's during the Summer and what I have now just will not do it. Gotta make changes, take more weight off and try again. I'll post up results as they come in with raceweight, DA and any other pertinent info. Thanks for reading. See everyone at the track.

My uncle raced at that track for a while he was track champion. He has a 70 camaro with a 400 stroked to a 434 running alcohol. Runs low 6s. I moved and havent been there in a while.

It may have been me. I was there that night. Ran 7.39 with the new slicks. Hoping for some 7.20's with new gears, spool and the Mamo ported FAST intake yet to be installed.
