07 shelby gt500 mustang?
ok, i was reading an article in auto week that tested the shelby gt 500. its running a supercharged 5.4 litter, with a newer t56 6speed. it has 500 horse power and i think 480 torque. very respectable and i would say it would be a fun car to drive but... it wieghs over 3900 lbs. and only does the quarter in 13.1. although they said the 0-60 times was in the 4 secound range, to me doing the quarter in only 13's is kinda sorry for 500 horse power. i mean the 02 ss with a six speed and only "325" horse power did low 13's and some say high 12's.
im sorry if i posted this in the rong thread but anyway... tell me yall's thoughts?

I believe they tested one to a 12.8 sec. 1/4 mile as well. You gotta keep in mind that it was designed partially by Shelby, and some of his cars in the past required some miles in order to run respectable times (I believe the Shelby Daytona lost almost an entire second 1/4 mile wise after some break in miles).
Gotta admit though, it is too heavy, and slow for what it supposedly puts out. My guess is that it'll run a mid 12 sec. pass with a decent driver. Of course Mustang Monthly And Fast Fords will slap on some slicks, take out the rear seats, remove the air silencer, and call it stock when they cooerce an 11 sec. pass out of it, and the Mustang community will call it a Z06 beater. So just prepare for the worst.
Too pricey IMHO. I prefer the 03/04 Cobra over it.

Motortrend has a test in this months issue. 12.7 at 116. Not sure of the weight. Ford says 3920 but the article says 3994 if I remember correctly. 500 hp / 480 torque from a factory car is awesome.
These times are on street tires also. I haven't run my car on street tires at the strip since I've had heads/cam, not sure that I would want to.

Have the July issue of motor trend on my lap. It has the shelby write up in it.
They had a best 1/4 mile time of 12.7 second's. 0-60 in 4.4 and to 100 mph in 9.8second's. They ran it up to 157.5 mph, [speed limiter], and it tip's the scale's at 3944 pound's. From what it sound's like quite a bit of that weight is from reinforcing the mustang platform to handle the engine.
A pretty formidable car, but, like everything else, not invincible.
