windy day at bristol
as the title says a windy day at bristol.went to the track today (bristol dragway tn] my god was it windy 20mph at most times.didnt really getv a decent pass they had trouble with the timing equipment all day for example my first pass was 13.8 @78mph the officials done some correcting and got the times pretty close later in the day.i learned that et streets and no line loc = shitty 60ft a best of 2.1 i pulled 2.0s stock with 2.73 gears and street tires.ended up with a 13.4 @ 104mph spinning ang hitting 20mph winds.i had my shiftpoints set a little low as well couldve picked up a few mph i believe.dont get to run again till april .ive got a line loc i should have on by then.i think with traction and better conditions i can go 13.0 -12.90ish what do you guys think.i have all bolt ons except pulley and 3.73s

Wind sucks. I ran at Speedway in February and almost had my car door knock my head off. I'd say my trap speed was off by a good 2 mph.
Considering the conditions i'm sure you have a 12 sec. car. It's all in finding the favorable conditions for your car to run. Sometimes you get lucky, and the track is prepped right, the wind is down/you have a tailwind, and your car is running right. Ehh, better luck next time.
Hopefully i'll see 12's soon at my track :p

I was there too. Track wasn't too tacky. Wind was horrible! My speed, on the one good pass of 2, was 110.68 and that's pretty much normal for my car with my best being 111.55. My ET was 13.23 and my best has been 12.88. This is with street tires. My first pass was more drifting than drag racing so I just aborted it. 78 mph I think.

Well, I went to the event and had a pretty good day. Sorry to hear so many people did not. I ran five times and felt the car and track peformed pretty well.
As stated before my first pass at 1:10 pm was not so great at 12.83 et drifting most of the entire track, but once the track got a little heat in it the traction was there. I did run a car that went 9.25 at 147.34 MPH with a 1.38 60 ft., but he turned the red light on.
My second run was 1.67, 12.53 at 106.74 N/A at 1:57 pm, KP is correct my 1/8 was .30 off what I usually run, it is usually around 7.67 not 7.94 and was 2 MPH slower.
I ran three 75 hp dry NOS passes.
2:45 pm Right Lane 1.582, 12.049 at 108.94, stalled 2,500 rpm's
3:43 pm Left Lane 1.589, 11.972 at 110.47, stalled 2,800 rpm's
5:11 pm Left Lane 1.589, 11.954 at 110.89, stalled 2,800 rpm's
I think the event was good and for $10.00 how are you gonna beat a deal like that!

N2RACINGLS1's: You can't beat a deal like that! On street tires it's hit or miss with the track conditions (and mostly my driving). That's my fault. With my trap speed I should be running low to mid 12's. Plus, I've got a bigger cam to go in soon so tires will be a necessity.
fastlt1: I bought a DVD cam last fall and I'd love to have a vid of my car. I'd be glad to rent a pair of tires for a couple passes! I've been watching for a cheap pair on here and other sites. I've got more 17" rims like the one's on my car, but I don't want to pay more than a hundred bucks for a couple used tires to play with. I had a set I bought for 75 bucks and sold 'em like a dummy.
Anywho, looking forward to next time!

Yea he said something about not running as much NOS. Regardless low 9's is pretty good.
When I took the wifes 02 WS6, 6 spd up there a few years back with a lid and Nitto's leaving at 2,000 RPM it ran 13.21 at 107 MPH so it looks like your car is running good. That same car ran 12.75 at 110 MPH at Steele Ala.
As stated before I have run alot better before in other places. My car has run a best NA of 1.55 60 ft, 7.54 at 91 mph with an 11.96 at 111 mph. I felt it could have been faster at Bristol but it was not.
Still had a great time.
