How my weekend went at the LSX shootout
We arive Thursday for some TNT. Off the trailer the car went 5.39@133.x in the 1/8 and I shut it off to check the tuneup coasted to a 8.92@120. Friday, went out for 1st round qualifying. Spun and got back in it, went 6.x and right past the 1/8 the car nosed over a bit. Let out of it and coasted to a 10x..We knew we could only add more fuel and try one more time. Saturday moring the Freightliner wouldn't start and neither would the generator on the truck. We waited around for ever to find some jumper cables. Got jumped off and headed to the track. When we got there the batteries couldn't support anything. We ended up having to leave to get batteries and missed the 1st round of quilifying on Saturday. We make the second round and went 5.40@132.x and coasted to a 8.7x@130. The car nosed over again and was knocking heavily when I turned the car off. I roll back around and I thought it sounded like it was in the valve train. Pulled the valve cover and a Jezel Mohawk was broken in half. Matt G one of the RPM boys loaded up in the golfcart and headed out to find one. 6speed Inc came to the rescue and GAVE us a brand new rockerarm assy in the plastic. The rockers were made just a bit different and so we had to make some adjustments to the rockers. LOL Got it all back together, thrashing all through the night. We knew we had added all the fuel we could and it wasn't making a difference and I wouldn't be able to make it through the rest of the 1/4, so Brian from RPM called Eric, here in Texas, and he and another buddy drove up and brought me a Weldon 2025A from RPM. We thrashed all morning Sunday morning to make the 1st round. James put some tune in that he thought would be a good guess since we really had no idea what number to go back to since we kept adding fuel and it wasn't helping. So 1st round was my first 1/4 mile pass and went 8.47@163 with a 1.34 60ft. Pulled the plugs and checked all the logs and everything was perfect but a bit on the rich side.(which was fine with me) The car didn't 1/8 mile all that well with the fuel in it but it made it down the rest of the track. We will make some test hits here at a local track and pill it on up to where we were supposed to be there in Memphis and see what this little ol LS1 can do. We had a safe trip up there and back and had a blast while there.

Good to hear you overcame some struggles, as I know plenty of people had headaches over the course of the event (that never seem to happen at their local track)!

Sounds like you definitely had your hands full over the weekend! Glad to see that you guys got it down the track and laid down some good passes.
What cubic inch and what heads are you running? If you don't mind..

Dry kit.
Quite a simple combination. Motor made 602rwhp and bottle made 950rwhp with the little pills. I have yet to add more to it. Now we have the fuel, so it shouldn't be a problem for 1050 to the tires. Through a PG and a 9in.

That thing makes some serious n/a steam for a nitrous motor. I used to think my little 402 that makes 470 thru a 5400 n/a converter was pretty good for a setup that was built for 400+ of spray, but it's not even within sight of what you're making, or the other 8 second nitrous cars for that matter. I never even dreamed of hitting that mark, good thing LOL.
Congrats on getting past the 8 second barrier, you've been trying to do that for a long time now, it's got to feel good to finally have it coming together.
