Bad Day In The 1/8th
Well I went to try out my new set up at the track yesterday. The car should run low 7s N/A IMO. I have all my mods in signature and a Moser 9" with 4.33s. The car pulls extremely hard. I was on newer M/T drag radials and started out with 18 psi and lowered them all the way down to 5 psi! I know your not supposed to go that low but it wouldnt hook. It was blowing the tires off through 3rd. It went 8.4x at 9x.xx with 2.30s 60 ft. Any suggestions?

Sounds like maybe the track prep sucked. I run MT 325/50/15s on my Purple car and it usually worked best between 14psi and 16psi. Some have had good luck running 20- 22psi on 28"(325/50) and 30"(295/60/15) MT Radials but all the fast radial cars(7.5- 8.3 sec) run 14 to 16psi. If your running a smaller MT tire say a 275/40/17 or 255/50/16 they require more pressure because they have no sidewall usually between 18psi to 24psi. I've never heard of anyone running less then 10psi on MT radials.

that sucks man. maybe better luck next time. It could have been **** poor track prep, or maybe you were a little to excited to get the car down the track and the driving wasnt as good as it should have been. I know i was disappointed when i took my car down to the track after a couple "mods", but after the excitement wore off i got in the zone and did better. could of just been the track though. 5psi is pretty damn low to be running them tires too.

change tires. Seriously, with the modifications listed in your sig and the 10 Second club note in your box there, shouldn't we be asking you for advice? Get ET Streets.

Well thats just it. The car has been in the 10s with the old set up. But I am seeing how everyone has been running high 8s in the 1/4 and wanting to know how they pull that off. lol

FWIW, if you would still like to try using the DRs for a while, I found my best luck with them at 20psi (tried higher and lower) and slip the clutch instead of dropping it. Doing this I got a best of 1.77 60', but it won't be easy on your clutch and isn't optimal.
My advice would be to lose the radials on a stick car and get some regular ET Streets.

You also need to adjust suspension if possible to take some of the shock out of the clutch dump for a T56/DR setup. I found slowing down the weight transfer actually helped a DR/T56 setup.
With me, it consisted of raising the LCA to the middle setting, softening the rear shocks helps as well. Other than that, it's trial and error. Like someone else mentioned "side stepping" is not a great idea on DR's. A deliberate, but progressive release of the clutch will do you much better on getting out of the hole.
