Default Did I do good or not?

My second trip to the track gave me my first decent run. This is the 3rd pass ive EVER had on the track so let me know what you think. The first two(from two weeks ago) passes i got locked out of 3rd so...Anyways, mods are in my sig, sumihomo tires, VERY humid night and the track was real slick.

60'....2.26
1/8...9.12
1/4...13.90 @ 102

I also shifted in to 4th at the end but i dont think i needed to seeing my trap speed.

I'll say there is room for improvement, but I've seen worse. Everyone starts somewhere, and six speeds are harder to drive than putting the auto in gear and rolling the throttle to hook up on street rubber.

As long as you have fun while making the laps, then you'll continue to get better. Don't get frustrated, understand it takes time to figure it all out on launch rpm, clutch slip, etc etc.

I'd consider adding a set of sticky tires to your list of things, but know that comes with a possible shorter life on the 10 bolt

your mph seems low. You may find that changing the spark plugs and fuel filter helps out your mph.

His MPH could be low just due to not being able to go WOT in first or spinning a lot on those Sumisucko's. Get yourself some real tires. You don't need to launch hard, just get a tire on there so you can go WOT through first gear. Not too bad for your 3rd pass down the track.

Not bad at all for your 3rd pass down the track! Get some drag radials and go nuts.

Not bad at all. I think with some practice you will see some mid to low 13's the way the car sits now. I would practice racing the car to get faster rather than start throwing parts at it right away. But like they said as long as your having fun thats all that counts!

Yep. I did mo' betta this time For some reason the 1/4 speed wasnt showing up but on a earlier run i ran a 13.7@ 103 so that does sound kinda low. My best RT was a .147

Thats exactly what im doing. I was all ready to put the headers on but then i went to the track and now i just want to see what the car will do like it is and get used to it, so im putting the headers off for a while.

Congrats!! Your in the 13.2s for sure with that MPH, just work on the 60ft. times, don't worry too much about the Reaction times (there only good if your bracket racing), just always remember the ticker doesn't start untill you break the beam, so a better reaction time won't net a better ET, how you "stage" the car will affect ET/MPH though. You can get some DRs & do much better, just don't do any 5K launches lol & have fun.

if your hunting for a quick time, be sure to stage as shallow as possible, being in too deep could cost you up to a tenth depending on how hard your launching...good luck!!

btw, nothing wrong with trying to kill the tree, just makes the other guy have to play catch up..lol

Better, cool. But yeah, don't feel like you have to nail the tree and get a good reaction time if it's just a test and tune. I don't. I bet when you stop doing that your times will get a couple tenths better. And shallow staging's a good idea also.

I'm trying to figure out why it's trapping low though. It could be weather. Are you spinning? Bogging? Are you able to go WOT through most of first gear? FWIW I always trap higher on dr's than street tires. I know that's not really the norm but that's how both of my Camaro's have been.

Its been pretty hot. And in one of my runs yesterday i tried feathering the throttle to get it to quit spinning but that made it slower. So Ive just been dumping the clutch, and WOT all the way through first. It spins a lot.

Easiest way for me to launch on Sumi's in N.AL is to slip the clutch at about 3500 RPM, then lay into it, bark 2nd, and bark third.

Ive heard Huntsville is pretty nice but ive never been. We always go to Steele. I launch at around 2k and it spins through most of first, depending on which lane im on.

I was there Friday. It was too hot really. I spun my way to a 13.6/105 something. The line was too long so I just got one run in. I'll be waiting for cooler weather before I head back to the track.

Your car looks really good man! There were some guys on alabamaracingscene.net that saw your car last week and was asking about it. You should stop in and reply to him. He was drooling about how good your car looked. Here's the thread http://www.alabamaracingscene.net/fo...hlight=formula

If you get the chance, check out dixiemusclecars.com too. There's some good GM guys on there. There's a link in the bottom of my sig. ARS has a lot of import guys.

You are running 315s? Do they seem to hook up well??

On the factory rubber I left from 2200rpm and slipped the clutch out till I was moving before going WOT... seemed to work really well... I thinking you need to leave from a much higher RPM with those tires.

Dang! I didnt know people are out there talkin about me lol. I just registered on ARS and replied to that.

And yea 315s SHOULD hook up good as long as there not the Sumi's. But anything else would.

Put some MT drag radials on your stock rims, those 315's too heavy for your combo. Then with some practice, 60' could drop to the 1.8's, as long as your stock clutch holds.
