My Car manned the F*ck up today, New PB!
Intro:
First off I want to thank TheChef, with out his parts this would not have happend, as well as his excellent ability to line a car up! Also JLws6 for letting me learn from his car and helping me shave some needed weight to get this thing to liven up!
Past History:
To give you all a quick review of the past.....
Car did a best of 12.8 @ 107.9 with making 326 rwhp. Lid, Stock drive line, untuned 3.42's. Dead clutch (stock)
Many, Many, mods later and making 380ish on Nittos I couldnt better a 13.1 @ 108 w/ a 2.1 60' with all in the sig. Now it has a high rpm drag issue, new Tick Perf. unit shipped today.
Race Weight:
Race weight with me in it is 3950 during both these races.
First off, anyone out there saying that a Camaro and a Trans Am weigh the same doesnt know what the **** they are talkin about. So thats one knock against me and I am not the lightest guy out there. So there is room to improve there. A Similarly modded 02 z28, actually 2 of them, minus drivers are 120 pounds lighter then my car, not to mention I do not have the 12 disk changer NOR SFC's (which are in my bedroom, in a box)
JL and I did some lightening of the car.
!Rear Seat w/ Seat belts (leather)
!Spare tire and Jack
!Carpeting Insulation/Backing
!Trunk Matting (rubber matting)
!Front Sway Bar and brackets
!Heat Sheilds #6
Swapped a Stock LS1 hood for a Fiberglass WS.9 by US exotics
Drained the washer fluid
5 Gallons of Fuel
** I had planned to get the AIR pump out, as well as the side seat but i just didnt have time.
Swapped 4- 2001 WS.6 rims for Convo Pro's 15 X 4 and 15 X 8's on M/T ET drags, w/ tubes, 26" tall. The smallest they make! Thanks CHEF!
I re Weighed the car and with me it was 3720!! I knocked 230 pounds with out doing much. This car is as light as my old LT1 Camaro!
The seats go back in as well as sway bar but for track purpouses, it was worth every minute spent!
Results:
I started and pretty much left the rears @ 16 psi. Fronts were hard. I had Chef guide me in, do a lil spin in the water, come forward, then 2nd gear burnout, powered to the line, while getting in the groove.
I got 4 runs, and I spent the 1st learning to drive on slicks and skinnes. I have NEVER, EVER driven with that wheel set up. It used to be stock tires and drag radials. Also this is the 2nd time ive been there with the car w/ the cam set up.
1st Run
12.5 @ 113.XX w/ a 1.8X 60 foot, I got a lil suprised how the car jumped. I was told a wheel got pulled!!
2nd Run
this was my best!! Pretty much my best 60' EVER and for this car, all new PB's
12.388 @112.08 w/ 1.737 60'
7.959 @ 88.8 for the 1/8th
I have video, it solidly pulled a wheel and left like a monster. No power shifting.
3rd Run
blown, I tried powershifting, no go.
4th Run
just to see if I can do well again.
12.4 @112.5 w 1.747 60'
Pretty much backed up my best.
The air quality was great, for LVD, not much wind.
Other then the Ford GT wrecking out, it was a smooth day!!
Future Plans:
Getting myself that same wheel and tire setup.
Retune the car
Set of adjustible rear shocks
Heavier then stock duty sway bar
Make sure no clutch drag.
Weld in SFC's
Take a lil extra weight out.
b]Vids and Pics[/b]
**The car normally looks amazing, our raceway has a dirt/clay dust ridden driveway and ever car looks like this unless its brought in on an enclosed trailer.
Again I wanted to thanks SubieBill for coming with us, it was great seeing you again, Alex, Derek, Rob, Jay, and everyone else who supported in the effort to go ***** TO THE WALL!!

Thanks Dave!
There is a night and day diff from Drag radials to a Bias Ply. I have run EVERY DR out there and M/T did the best but they are unforgiving and the compound will be changing.
I tried pushing the RPMS to the max but the car pushed due to the clutch grabbing. after 5,500 rpms.
I'll submit for the title change.

Ya get that clutch maser in there, and we'll get the air pump and maybe a couple other little things out and maybe, maybe if ya get there on a cold enough day ya might be able to get an 11.99 out of it. I can think of a couple people that woulld really annoy LOL.
Shirley Muldowney will really be hating on ya then LOL (inside joke)
Just make sure that you and Chef aren't gonna go on the same day, he's talking about wanting to go on a saturday, so just make sure that he's not gonna go on the same day... I"m pretty handy but I'm not swapping 4 tires abck and worth between 2 cars between runs LOL, oh hell to the no on that one.

Good job yesterday, Aaron! You really suprised me with the 12.3 run, you have every right to be proud of yourself and your car! I agree that with a few more tweaks and a fix for the clutch drag and you could see an 11 on a cold day.
Also, you can really see in the second pic that the car is gonna look badass once the hood is aligned and painted!

Great runs yesterday, Aaron! I'm glad everything went well for you and I know you definitely surprised the hell out of Ron and I. I honestly was hoping you'd get a 12.5 out of it but wasn't even sure about that. The launch in that vid looks kickass!
I would like to point out that I still believe I'm correct that there was an issue with the car last time around (ie the fuel filter you replaced) that was causing such horrible performance. That 230 pounds you removed was probably good for a few tenths and a couple mph, but clearly 200 pounds isn't good for close to full second off your ET and 5mph. The combination of the weight AND the fix are what gave you those results. Nice job sorting out all the issues.
Be proud, sir. You definitely earned it.

EVo did run a 10 second run, one of the first, and probably one of the only ones around that actually put a # up.
I think there's about .3 left in the car without spending any $ other then that clutch master, but after that it's gonna take the shocks, swaybar and alot more weight out and or more power.
Yourself, Joe and Ron are all gonna be getting kicked out for no rollbar coem next year I'm 100% positive of it.
Maybe we can get a 4 car price deal with Bruce, because INTENSS needs a cage in his car too LOL

Nice runs.... You sound like you have had the same problems I had with my cam only setup....Great HP on the dyno and **** performance at the strip....
Glad to see you are getting it lined out. 12.30s is very respectable for a 3800lb car...
BTW, yes these are heavy pigs.....Mine weighed 3540lbs empty and 3720lbs with me in it, 1/4 tank of gas and a full 10lb nitrous bottle, this was all before the 9" install which is atleast a 100lb extra pounds......... 3800+lb race weight SUCKS.....
I will be getting back to the strip in a month or two since I installed a 9" and will be running 26x10 ET streets, I hope I get 12.30s on motor also....

Take the time, you can get these cars alot lighter then you think.
