Default 315/60/15 MT DR's installed, no 1/4 cutting!

Got my 315/60/15 MT DR's installed, didn't have to cut the front of the 1/4 panel like most do. It would be easier to do if I did cut it, thats for sure. I still need to trim the bumper some more, and I have a little more clearancing to do on the wheel wells. They are on now with 3/16" spacers and clearing. I've cut the bumpstops off completely, including the area in front of the spring. I'm still undecided on if I like it or not, the car sits high now. I might throw some 7.5 BS wheels on and tuck it some more (mine are 6.5", rear is narrowed 1.25") but I will need to basically mini tub it to do that.

Sorry the pics suck and the car is dirty. Plasma cutter, grinder, hammering, etc. makes a mess. And since we are having a terrible ice storm I'm not backing it out now, I wouldn't be able to get it back in!

Opinions please....

Yes, 30". It does sit high, I agree. I'll probably mini tub it this winter and try stuffing the tire in there with a 7.5 BS wheel.

Man that **** is high!!!! I think with a 7.5 BS wheel, and 5 inchs of drop it would look badass. I am gonna have to swing by tomorrow, and get a glimpse of those warlocks.

Ya need to pull them in a good inch and a half, get the minitub done and lower the back about 2 to 3 inches, and it will look

As it is it does look way too high up.

What reason did you have to go to that big of a tire? the 325 has taken people into the bottom 8's all over the place, I'm sure there's a good # of people well on their way, if not already in the 7's on them.

Just curious.....

I don't know about that bro'. Tire is way too close to the fenders IMO, it's gonna rub, either when turning, launching or hard braking I think.
Great job getting them stuffed in there though. That's alotta meat under there!!

If you're running a spool, it's too close in the rear. Make a turn and it will grab the rear plastic....

I still need to trim the rear bumper somemore, besides, I really don't care what happens to the bumper. Worst it can do is rub off some more plastic. I think the front side is OK, I don't see how it can touch? DR's don't grow.

I'm going to try and find some used Pro stars with 7.5" BS and see what I can do. I can make my own mini tub kit. The one problem I can see is possible contact with the LCA with a 7.5" BS. I might be able to space those in some though.

The reason for this big of tire was to reduce my RPM's on the street since the TH400 swap. Besides, bigger is always better. Traction is good.

I do have a spool.

How can the tire move? I have zero slop in my rear suspension. All rod ends.

lol. you will see. its not the suspension that will move, its the tire that will deform. all that pressure with teh spool and stiff suspension and now tall sidewall - something has to give. its usually the tire

i made a mistake of ordering those for my buddys car. the 325's are way back ordered, so i figured go to the next smaller size without looking at the height. LOL. i mounted them up and tried to fit them... oops... lmao.

it was alot to ship back too.

What he said! .......your friends will tell you your car looks sick
I started to work on mine again, cut the lip on the qtrs way down, my car will tuck the tires as far as I want them to(cut all of the factory tub out , and installing full custom tubs to the top of the well on the hatch)

will the 325/50/15 fit on a stock transam 15" rim? and will it all fit under the car with out any modification to the car? I have a set of stock transam 15" rims and looking to see what is the biggest et street radial that i can fit on them and mount to the car without modification, i suppose i could get a set of crager soft 8's if i HAVE to but i really dont want to drop extra cash if i dont need to. Anyone know how wide the stock T/A 15" rims are? right now they have a set of 255/60/15's that i'm running but would like to get a little more rubber under there

Stock TA rims are 16" not 15" and I wouldn't put a 325 tire on anything smaller than a 10" wide rim. Stock TA wheels are 16x8 if I remember right. Also, to put a 15" rim on LT1/LS1 cars, you have to either A) Grind your calipars B) Run Drag Brakes or C) Buy Bogarts or Billet Specialties wheels which clear the factory brake calipars. To stuff a 325 under our cars you have to at least beat the wheel well with a BFH to make clearance.

woops you are right, they are 16's lol, and i am running the 255/50/16's. What is the biggest MT et street radial i would be able to fit on this 16" rim and get under the car without doing any modification? would the 295/50/16's go on without a problem?
