Default hoosier qtps

first off how do they hook?? I have a buddy with a grand national, (acutally 3 of them) he has them on one car and says they hook like a friggin bear. I am thinking of going with the 27" by i think it was a 11.5 to get a 10" tread face. Will these fit without modding?? I have billet specialties streetlights 15"x10" with a 7.5" backspacing. Strange 12 bolt stock width.

They arent as big as regular slicks, 11.5x27 fit with just cutting the bumpstops and a little inner wheelwell beating. 11.5x28 takes a little more hammer work but are still smaller than a 10.5x28 ET drag.

They work better then a bias ET Street IMO.

i have a set of et streets now, no hooking. I want to go to the 27 because i am thinking of going with 4.10s (depending on how it runs this friday) and i think i can eek out 137mph at around 6900rpm. I dont have any issues removing the bumpstops, but i dont know how bad i want to do any other mods, spent all last summer and a ton of $$ completely redoing the whole body.

You wont have to do anything to the outer body for the 27s, may just have to tweak the inside front part of the wheelwell. Just make sure you have adjustable LCAs to center the wheel in the wheelwell and depending how high you sit its best to have an adjustable PHB as well.

I run the 11.5x28s QTPs and just had to ding in the inner lip in the front of the 1/4 a little, the 27s will have a lot more room and you shouldnt have to touch the outer body at all.

Here is what the 28s look like, they are a bit smaller than 28" ET drags, I used to run the 11.5x27s years ago and they have a ton of room compared to the 28s.

I've got the setup you are going to run; Billet Specialties 15x10 with the 27x11.5s QTPs. I had to cut the bump stop mounting points completely off when I put them on my car. Here are a couple pics of them on the car

Z28/2002, did you have to do anything with the inner portion of the wheel well?? Do you have adjustable lcas?? I have an adjustabel panhard rod, but not the lcas, yet.

I clearanced the inner fenders previously for the 315s. I do have adjustable LCA's and panhard rod but didn't have to adjust anything when I put the tires on. the only side shot I have is with the tires on a 15x8

I have run et street 26x11.5 with no issues, and they are the exact same size as my slicks. Is the difference in the 27 (other than the obvious height) the width being higher when sitting on the car?? Both tires have the same tread width, and the 26" fit easy.

just looked on jegs site, the section width of the 26/11.5/15 is 12" and on the hoosier 27/11.5/15 it is 11.2 both at a 10" tread width. I would think these would fit without doing anything different, if the et streets fit.

Hey bro, not to thread jack you but.... You mentioned you were looking to trap 137mph, so I am assuming this is the 402 on spray right? have you ran this combo yet? Just curious as I am thinking of doing a 402/408 for my full weight T/A and trying to get an idea of what it will run with the M6/3.70 gears and 150hp shot.

yes, this is the 402 on spray. I havent really got to run it out on motor since it has been tuned. (had a crappy *** sponosr tune before) It trapped 118 on motor short shifting at 6k. I hope to see 120+ on motor. I havent sprayed it yet. I would imagine it should be 130+ easy. If it doesnt rain on friday i will find out.

Cool, keep us posted......when you said "137 mph" I was like DAMN.....that thing has some nuts to go 137mph at full weight... Yeah I would hope that the 402 gets you 120+ on motor....then gain another 10-12 mph from the 150 shot....

I am thinking of having HKE do my motor, I am local to them so.....I would like about 525+ rwhp on motor, then dump my 150 shot through it.... It needs it, my car is 3860lbs with me in it so....

Let us know how it runs friday!

AChotrod, i did see your thread, very nice btw. I know i can get those to fit, but i was wondering about the 27x11.5s yours are the 9" tread width. But like i said when you compare the 26x11.5/15s to the hoosiers the only diff other than the height is the section width, and the mickeys i have now have a bigger section width by .8". So i would assume they will fit. I think i am just going to order the 4.10s and see what happens, i dont think i will be able to go to the track tommorow they are talking severe storms with possible hail.

I'm not sure what your limiter is at, but you better do your math with the ratios..... When I was running 4.10s with 25.7 tire and a 6800 limiter, I was hitting the limiter at 124mph. Now I know you are going with a taller 27" tire and all but.... If I were you, I would get the tires and make some runs logging trap RPMs before you buy gears. Thats why when I built my 9", I went with 3.70s so I KNEW I could trap 130+ on a 26" tire and a 6800 limiter. Just something to think about.

if i remember i think my limiter is at 7300. For now i am shifting at 6900-7000. I will have to look at my tune and see. I have been doin the math for over a month of contemplating the gear swap. With a 27" tire and 4.10s i think the mph at 6900 was 137. I printed off all the different scenarios, tire sizes and gear ratios off of fbody.com/gears. So far when i am making data logs the rpm and mph calculator is dead nuts as to what my vss, and tach says.
