Weight sticky for the 2010 Camaro?
I know there are people already dismantling their 5th gens to get them into shape. I know my car weighs over 4000 lbs with me in it. Lets get weighing the parts that we are removing or replacing. I will have my stock mufflers off and weighed next week along with ditching the tire inflator and anything unnecessary in the trunk.

If someone wants a real sports car (light) they are going to buy a Corvette or a 4th Gen F-body, or even a 85-93 Mustang.
If someone has tons of money to burn on a new car to drag race, they are going to buy a Cobra Jet.
This thread was posted because the OP can't accept the fact the new Camaro is built on a sedan chassis (Zeta/G8) and it's a FAT PIG.

Did you just call a waaaaahbulance ??????
And those fat pigs will be beat by lighter coupes that are not built on sedan platforms.
If someone tears apart a new Camaro, it's because they have a TON of money.
I also assume they will have an alterior motive for modifying a 3,950+lb car built on a sedan chassis with an INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION to drag race.

C'mon guys.
We can ALL agree that if you are going to build a drag car, you start off with a light car to begin with, preferably one with a solid rear axel.
If anyone is going to argue that, they're just busting my *****.
Yes they're are IRS cars running 7's (Viper) and 8's (C5), but it's not as easy or codt effective as getting a F-body or 85-93 Mustang there.

I am just waiting for someone to nuke the engine, trans, or rear in a V6 car and not be able to get it fixed. I already have everything I could need to swap everything over. When I get mine it will be tin canned much like my 93 has been, but I'll leave a couple extra things in there.

My TA was like 3800 with me in it, now it's down to 3200ish. Woulda been cheaper to start with a stripped down bird for sure but it's cool to me to have a 9 sec WS6 plus it was my 1st new car pruchase. I get your point but to each his own.
I can't wait to see one of these 2010 camaro's pull the wheels and click off a single digit pass.
You could build a chevette too ( very cost effective) but you wouldn't want to.
Build what ya want!!!!!!

Spend $7000 through GMPP and get a body in white to build a race car.
Put whatever rearend and engine combo you wanted in it.
Leave out the many airbags and sound deadening material and interor appointments.
It would be pretty easy I bet to get to 3000 lbs. in race trim.

Since when are 4th gens nice and light?
Whats the problem with liking a body style and wanting to make it faster? Isn't that what the the entire car community revolves around?
Nobody is arguing that its the best platform for a dragster, but i'm not sure how the car weighing 300lbs more then a 4th gen suddenly makes it a stupid car to mod.

There was a new LS3 for sale on here not too long ago...a guy (from MD) received his new Camaro (had like 5 miles on it; he towed it home from the dealer) and he tore the engine out and sold it to a guy in PA...i think he has a LSx block and is building a race car with it. Seems nuts to most of us, but some people just tear into it.
