Default Short belt problems :(

I posted a similar thread in the external section...but no solid response...ok I have eliminated my power steering and I have an ASP crank pulley and the asp alt pulley on the car as well...does anyone know what size belt I need? and also if they could explain or show me a pic of how to route the belt for the bypass?...I did it a long time ago and lost 5 tenth's and 3 mph!! felt like my fuel pump was dying..stuck the stock belt back on and ran 5 tenth's quicker and 3mph faster lol...computer compinsation? i dont know...but i am willing to try it again...if ANYONE has bypassed their power steering and have either both asp pullies or just the crank pulley..please tell me your belt size Thank's,

Carter

I'm not sure, but 51" comes to mind. Bypasssing the power steering can't make you lose any power, something else must have been going on. All you do it look at the stock belt, then route it the same way without going over the power steering pump. You will have to grind/remove an alternator bolt also, I believe.

go to autozone or advance, get a few belts, id say 44-50" and try them on in the parking lot

stock crank and alt pulleys uses a 52 inch belt for a short belt, so with the asp it would be a little smaller

I have tried it several times and found it is not worth doing. 51" does sound right but I'm not sure either. If anything it may be .05 in the 1/4.

Awesome..Thank's alot guy's..i wish i could go to the store and try a bunch of different belt's...but i dont have a belt on the car because there is no pump on the car anymore....does anyone know if it's ok to remove the alt bolt?..i did that before and it freaked me out a little..i think that might have been the problem on the track also..could have been tweaking the alt sideways and loosening the belt because the tensioner couldnt keep anough preassure?...oh well i will figure something out...thank's again guy's,

I removed that alternator bolt when I ran a short belt. No problems at all, the alternator is still very sturdy.

With the ASP pulley and stock alt. pulley I use a 505K6. I had a 525K6 on it but it would start to come off. It may work for you since to have the alt pulley.

I still dont believe its worth anything. Can anyone say they have taken on and off at the track on the same day? I did and saw nothing.
