Default Quick Time Pros

About to order a set of 27x10.5 qtps and some 15x8 summit Stars for my GTO.
The reason i am getting these is to put on at the track.
In Houston we also like to do a lot of roll racing so i was wandering if these would hook well on the street or should these bad boys only be used on the track

The more you drive a tire, the more heat cycle it sees and the harder it gets. Not sure if QTP's are ment to be a "street tire" i.e. ET Drag v ET Street bias plys from M/T. I know that some people run them with great success but any street bias ply also run the risk of damage so be aware.

IMO a better all around tire would be a M/T ET Street Radial (read Drag radial) but with GTO's I do not know what tire/rim limitations you have. So please excuse any ignorance.

**EDIT**

I did find this simply from Hoosier's website....

If you want a street tire that does good on the track, the BFG drag radial TA is a good one. Not quite the track tire but close and a decent road tire.

Yeah ive currently got nitto 555rs right now which are 265s and hook great on the street but are a joke from a stop. I know they dont reccomend running them on the street but it would be more of a saturday night tire just wondering if they would hook on the street or would it just be a spin fest

Hoosier QTP 27X10.5 on Weld Draglight 15X8 5.5 BS

They almost clear the outer fender without any cutting.. I ran my drag bags at 20psi or more and they stoped rubbing the stock fender lip on hard launches.. Cut a best of a 1.53 on the QTPs and they were definatly sticky on the street.. Throwing rocks and ****..

Hope that helps..

If you don't actually hit the free way and it is all in town driving, I do not see an issue aside from above ave. heat cycling and possibly road hazard.

Awesome, i understand that these are a legit track tire Its just that i only go a few times a year. Also i understand that these CAN be driven on the street.

My question is, will they hook on the street or from a roll????????????
If not then I'll Probably get some ET street radials just cant get traction with a radial

Thanks guys.. It has a 3.91 gear in the rear with a stock posi/BMR 300m Stubs/DDS axles and a one peice driveshaft.. Its a M6 so no stall leaving at 5.5k or more every time..

I just switched to a 28" ET Drag on a 15x10 Hendrix wheel and blew the stock posi(going spool with 4.10s).. Before it went though, it shorted a 1.51 and 2 guys told me it pulled the wheels 3-4 inches..

The QTPs where a great tire.. But I started getting to aggressive and spinning them at the line - thats why I switched.. Just threw the pics up so you could see how that tire would fit your GTO

OP- If your just about to order all 4 summit stars..

All 4 shipped to my door for 999... rears are 15x10 w 7.625 BS... SFI Approved... For the 28s to fit a BFH had to come out but the QTPs should fit no problem.. PM if interested in a link- non sponcer on this perticular board

Ben

i ran the m/t et streets 26x11.5x16 on a set of 4gen camaro rims and they fit perfect. had to trim a little of the inner plastic wheelwell on the drivers side, but no other mod/cut needed.

i raced on and off the track and drove everywhere on them, no problems.

best time was a 11.5@122mph only mods were a fast intake/tuned/100 shot, rest of the car was 100% from factory.

there is a vid on youtube of me running a supra powered mgb, and you can see the car dead hooked.
