Default What do you launch at on Nitto 555R's?

Basically a stock car, mods listed below... what pressure do you regularly run and what do you launch at? I go through the water and sit and do a burnout... what RPM's are feasible to launch at? I was launching at 3000 and it seemed I could try a little bit higher running 19 psi.

Erin I saw your heads todays and your going need more than DR

I'm a stab and steer guy but I ran them at 18psi and did a HUGE burnout. I'd suggest getting a line lok to make things easier. My best was I 1.63 but I was only able to do that at Atco.

I'm looking to get some 555r's soon too...

I have a good clutch and stock rear and over 350 rwhp....if I do a pretty good burnout will it hook if I launch over 3000??

Has anyone tested the nittos on a "dry" run..

For example: not doing a burnout and just taking off??

If anyone has done this just to see the basic advantages post....

Oooh you saw "THE HEADS" dun, dun, dunnnn...
I know Im going to need more than the DR's, but when I do get a real tire and everything done.. BYEBYE rear. I like my rear the way it is for now LOL. I did a pretty good burnout on the nittos this past weekend, I just sat there and spun and ignored the track guys waving me through. One of my next few mods is a Line Lock, from what I understand it is easier on the brakes? Sean just wanted to make sure I knew how to do a real burnout on my own first, before I got the LineLock. But you run your nittos at 18 psi? What's the lowest you can go safely? And I need to have enough control on the launch to slip the clutch, I get anxious and just drop the clutch and go... I'll have to try that next time and experiment. My 60's are still terrible, but getting better.

With the mods listed below, the Nittos are pointless. Now that I put my Cartek clutch in, I tried to launch at ~3000rpm's (with them heated nicely)and had no traction at all. Over 350 rwhp and launching on them without heating them? Have fun trying to keep the car straight.

What about if I burn 5000 miles off of them?

I always ran 18psi in mine. A lot depends on the track you are running, prepped good or not. On a good track I could launch at 3500 to 4000 rpms. This was with just a few free mods. Just be ready for your clutch to go out launching like that. I usually didn't go through the water though, go around the water back up just to the edge of the water and do a really strong burn out.

On the street..with now burnout..I just shred em..

Track. A good 6 second burnout is all you should need. I've been 'out of the groove' and smoked em for 30ft after a launch. I only run em at the track so I rarely get on em other than that. But If I happen to put em on at home rather than the pit, I've given em the work out on the way out.
Honestly. They dont seem much better than my 255/50 Phantoms that I use on the street (sans any warm up of course)
For lightly mod'ed cars. There great! But I wouldnt want to drive on em daily. After all, they are rated by the factory for only 15k miles

My 'primary' motivation for the 555R nittos is to have a set specificly for the track, and to keep the my dailys for the street.

I never got nitto's to work on my 6 speed, I had better luck with regular yokohama street tires, at least they were predictable. On our auto car they worked great....

Hey I've done it by accident before. Just never seen a post this old before, almost 9 years old.
