New Best in 100% Stock Z06 11.783@116.90
Well, Tommy (3gun) came up for the weekend, and we decided to take the cars out to the track to see how they would do. I intended to spend my time working with Tommy on getting him used to the head and cam package. At the last minute I decided to take my car out there, and possibly run it. I hadn't really planned to, it just sort of happened that way.
Anyhow, I went ahead and brought the stock airbox lid with me so that if things worked out I would try to see if I could give Ranger a run for the title of fastest pass in a stock Z06. We spent the first part of the morning driving Tommy's car, after making several passes in his car, I got in mine and decided to make a pass. At this point it has been months since I made a pass in my car at the track. I got up there and launched the car at around 4500 and the car seemed to move out, but i got the feeling it might be trying to drive through the clutch. I went ahead and lifted, but I don't think it was the clutch. I think I was imply not used to how much slower the car was. So, I brought the car back around and cooled it for a 15 minutes and then made a pass. I launched @ around 4500, so it wasn't one of my 6600RPM clutch slip of death lauch. I rode the clutch out, and the car moved out, but not super hard. I was just a hair slow on the clutch. The nose came up, but I could feel it start to fall just a bit so I let out on the clutch a bit more. So the nose porpised just a bit. I could have left a bit harder, and a bit smoother, I think. Anyway, it was passable, and the car didn't spin going into second. The rest of the pass felt ok, no rev limiter, etc... I figured the pass would be ok, but I was pretty suprised when I got my slip:
60' - 1.767
330 - 4.880
1/8 - 7.470
MPH - 95.88
1000 - 9.710
1/4 - 11.606
MPH - 117.95
This was the 2nd fastest time I had run in the car ever, and I wasn't on ET Streets, I was on the stock F1SCs. So, I was pretty happy. I had also worried that with so much seat time in the H/C car I might have really lost touch with getting the stock car would work. At this point, I decided it was time to see what the car would do in the 100% stock state. So, I hustled the car back to the pits and re-installed the lid back on the car.
I made two passes. On the first pass I got greedy with the launch and the car spun. On the second pass I missed a 4th gear. I crunched it pretty bad, and just coasted through the traps. Had I not missed that gear, I think I would be sharing an even more impressive stock time with you.
60' - 1.727
330 - 4.908
1/8 - 7.526
MPH - 95.16
1000 - 9.832
1/4 - 12.054
MPH - 95.63
I thought that was apretty good short time for the stock F1SCs. So, I brought the car back around to make another pass. It was going to be my last for the day since I had some other commitments and was about to have to leave. So, I brought the car back around, and lined up for my last pass. I left around 4500 since that was what had worked for me so far that day. When I let out on the clutch the car moved out, but it got out about 20-30 feet and I heard and felt the tires start to spin they chattered twice. As I went into second, the tires spun, and the car wheelhopped bit. So, I wasn't sure this was going to be a pass to write home about. I got the timeslip , and I was pretty happy to say the least. Again, it wasn't a great pass. But I'll take it.
60 - 1.818
330 - 4.999
1/8 - 7.610
MPH - 95.29
1000 - 9.868
1/4 - 11.783
MPH - 116.90
The car did what I expected, it lost about 2 mph with the lid back on. The only reason my MPH was so high on this pass was from the wheelspin, otherwise I think it would have been 115 MPH or so.
Again, just for the record, this was with all the stock stuff in place. 100% bone stock, etc... , and I had witnesses there who looked the car over.
Anyhow, I may try to better that time if the chance presents itself any time soon, but for right now we are still working on better the times for the H/C car (which we did as a matter of fact) but thats the subject of another thread.

Nice times J-Rod.That -880 DA doesn't hurt your times. Those are great 60' for stock rubber. You guys in Texas have perfect weather in the winter for drag racing.I wonder what I could run in those conditions.I have to race in +1500 DA or higher around here.

The 11.596 was on ET Streets, and with the lid off. I did almost the same on the stock F1SCs, and the 11.783 was on the stock tires with the lid back on the car (which makes the car 100% stock). The lid is worth about 15HP for me.

i have learned that there is always a reason for everything. there are not just faster cars then others out there. the weather sure does help and i am sure that your driveing is good and i am sure the car is nicely broken in but there has to be a reason it is this fast. i am not saying that your car is not completely stock but it is eather that or all the other ZO6 owners really suck at driveing them. i dont want to start an argument but there is plently of things you can do that no one will ever see from the outside.
