Default Race front susp install questions.

Going to be tackling this project in the next month or 2 and have some basic questions for you guys. Everything will be c/m with heimjoint ends. What is the purpose of having the upper control arms ajustable on both mounting points? On the factory setup all your caster/camber is in the lowers. 2nd when initial install do you want to get the lengths close to the factory pieces? Seems like if you need to make an adjustment you almost need to pull the uppers/lowers back off to turn the heim end?? Just looking for some basic install tips before I get ready to go to town on this.

The trick with the stb for holding the motor is going to be used seems like a great way of doing it. Thanks in advance.

FYI it will be a midwest complete front end kit. k member, uppers/lowers race brakes.

The tops, will need to be removed to do the adjusting, that's unfortunate, but is what it is. You want the heim joint top arms so the movement is bind free, the additional adjustability is good to help keep the tires cambered properly during the suspension travel( lower ride height you can get the tires squared up easier) You can also adjust the arms a little to make the caster increase/decrease with suspension travel if need be, but that's a whole different topic.

So for the initial setup should you make it even with the factory uppers? I will not be using an alignment machine. This will all be done with strings and bubble gauges ect in the garage.

Next question is I have 300lbs springs right now at well over 1800lbs front weight. With the battery relocate and front swap will be around 1725-1750ish. Alum all motor car 6speed would it be a smart decision to swap for some 275lbs springs at the same time or is that too soft?

I'd try the 300's first and see what that gets you.

I am not going to post costs in a public forum. Eric and I have been working together since his rearend stuff for 3 years now and I am sure that was worth something when I purchased my front end. So not sure what normal costs are and do not want to get into that.
