Anyone made their rims skinnier?

Anyone made their rims skinnier?
I'm trying to make the ultimate sleeper/street car. I have a spare set of ZR1's sitting in my garage and I was thinking about getting some of the middle cut out and changing the 9.5" width to something like a 4"-5". This would make the rims somewhat lighter but keep the stock appearance. This may raise a few problems, such as backspacing and brake clearance. Anyone know if this would even work if I did some caliper grinding? Do they make a 17" tire that skinny? Thanks in advance.

Eric Vaughn (626-358-6413) did mine a few years ago. I have since sold them. He does great work. They looked cool but were heavy. I had them taken down to 5.5" wide. I think the tire was a 275 Firehawk from Tirerack.com. Attched is a picture. It's a scan so it is a little distorted.
You will need to send him 4 rims to get back 2.
