Default How many of you did a lightweight battery?

What company did you go with? How much weight did your particular battery save you? How much and do you think it was worth it? Any problems? Lastly, do you use it for the track only or all the time? Thanks.

Iam not a big fan of a light weight battery. I had one in the Hot Rod for about 1 year then it went dead. Went to Wal-mart and got a $29.95 one and it works great. Light weight battery is a waste of time in my book.

I am running one in my car, it weighs around 13.5# and its in the car 24/7 and have never had a problem with it. I have ran it for about 5 months at least.

I have a Hawker Odessy light weight battery, mounted up front.

Weight was about 13 lbs.

I've had it in the car for 13 months now, 6 months of daily driving with it and 7 months of pure racing only.

The only time it died on me was when I had my door and rear hatch open all day installing my light weight carpet. A simple jump start was all it needed.

For xmas I got a nice little battery maintainer, when the car is chillin in the garage I keep the maintainer hookup so its always at 100% no matter how long the car might sit between race days.

Its a good little mod to drop 10-20 lbs off the front depending on which battery you have right now.

I have the same Odessy in my '99. It starts the car just fine, but shortly after I installed it, every time I start the car the gauges sweep and the trip meter resets to zero. I have been too lazy/busy to swap the normal battery back and see if that cures it. However the timing of that behavior was so soon after switching to the Hawker, that I'm assuming it's the lightweight battery. It may not be holding enough charge to crank the car and then maintain voltage for those few seconds and the dash resets. Dunno, I'm not that smart about batteries.

I've had 2 SVR's crap out on me. I'll probably go to wal-mart and see what I can find for a cheap one.

I had a hawker and a SVR, the SVR lasted 18mos of pretty much everyday driving and the hawker lasted 6. I'm going to try another hawker and see, maybe the one I had was a bed one, after a certain point 70.00 for 20lbs is a pretty good deal..

for you guys with the lightweight batteries that went bad.
i am on mysecond hawker battery (mounted in back, starts fine)
the battery carries a 12 month warranty from the factory but if you buy it from gotbatteries.com they cover it for 3 years.. so you can return it for a free brand new one
they have a enersys (hawker copy) battery right on the front page now for $70.
