Default Anyone running 28X10-16 Hoosier slicks on stock wheels?

The Nittos are no longer cutting it. I need to buy slicks, but I'm still running stock wheels. Will 28X10-16 Hoosiers fit on the car when mounted on stock wheels? (I know they'll fit the stock wheels, I just need to know if they will fit on the car when mounted on stock wheels). I've seen them on cars with 16 inch Draglite XPs, but the backspacing on the XPs is different than the stock 16 X 8 wheels. Plus, they were 16 X 9 XPs, so the sidewall wouldn't be as bulged as on an 8 inch rim. Maybe I should have asked this in the wheels and tires forum, but I suspect I have a better chance of finding someone in here with expirence with this wheel and tire combo. Thanks in advance!

Mine did. I had to use a spacer and do a little bit of massaging but they worked great. I am selling mine by the way. 225.00. They still have the little nubs on them. (I used them for 1 day at the track and 4 passes)

I went back to a 26 inch tire as I didnt have enough gear with the taller tire.

Chris, do you have any good pics of them? What type of massaging? Did it involve a hammer in the wheel wells? What rearend gears were you running. I have 4.11s with an M6 and think a little less gear might be nice on N2O passes. I'm tired of shifting 5th gear in the 1/4. How much shipped to 22026 (Virginia)? Thanks.

Here is a pic

Very little hammering required. (5 minutes work if that)

I was NA and A4 at the time with 4.10 gears. I was trapping 122.6mph with these tires. They would have been perfect on spray.

See the nubbies haha

Thanks Chris. Let me know if you can do $225 shipped to 22026 and if you can take Pay pal. Then I'll just have to get it approved by my Finacial Manager (i.e. The Wife). By the way, where did you have to pound? Was it on the inner part of the wheel well or was it on the top? Were the side walls close to wheel well lips? Thanks, Gary

This sounds like what I'm looking to do as well I'm interested in what size spacer you used and if you needed to put longer studs in the axles to fit the spacer in. Also would those wheels work the same as the older salad shooter camaro wheels as far as the backspacing goes?

Chris, I'm also curious what size spacer was required and if you had to install longer wheel studs to compensate for them. Let me know. I'm still interested in the tires. Thanks.

I didnt have to install longer studs. I will find out the width of the spacers for you as well.

They are available through Summit Racing (or probably anyone who sells Hoosier tires). Part number his HOO-18153. I didn't see any other height choices to fit a 16 inch rim (except for the really huge ones like 33X17-16 )
