Mounting a Hurst Quarter Stick

Mounting a Hurst Quarter Stick
Been playing around with it, trying to see where it's comfortable at.
I don't have the Hurst mounting plate, I'll make my own.
Where is everyone mounting them at. If anyone has pics, that would be great.
Also, where do you bring the shifter cable up at? The stock hole in the trans tunnel, is to close to the shifter. The cable want bend in that short of distance, to get to the shifter. I'll probably have to drill another hole closer to the front of the car.
Thanks guys.

I just got the longer cable and made a corkscrew like shape with it through the stock hole like the instructions say to do. Easiest way is to find where you like it and weld stand offs to the trans tunnel. I used some 1x1 square tubing and then welded a nut on the inside for the shifter to bolt to. An easier method , for instance if you want to retain the stock center console, is to just weld a flat plate off of where the centerconsole/ brake handle bolt to and just weld nuts on the backside and bolt the shifter down like factory.

Ok for the corkscrew. Start the cable at the linkage of the tranny, go straight back and then loop itunder the tailshaft, then loop it on top if the trans and around and through the stock hole in the tunnel. Heres the instructions off the hurst website.

On a stock shifter, the cable mounts off center to the left.
I don't know about a B&M Pro Rachet.
I'm just going to drill a new hole, center of tunnel and up a couple of inches.
Just need to figure out a mounting plate, now.

The angle was important for making it fit in the console. Dimensions will be different as mine started out as a m6, but the overal dimensions shouldn't matter. I don't have any wig the console off, but I can snap some tonight

Yes on the 1/4 stick the cable does not line up. What I did was get another stock A4 shifter, cut it up and only use the base so that it mounts in the factory holes. I then bent a piece of steel the the correct angle that I wanted the shifter to be when it was in park, or 1st and welded it there. But what I have seen nobody do is what I did. Move my new bent mounting piece that I attached to the factory shifter bottom to the left. So when you look at the center consule, the shifter is where the factory gear indicator setup was. What this did was to allow me to line the shifter cable up straight through the factory hole and eliminate the need to drill another hole in the tunnel. Then I just custom cut the top consule plastic to fit. I need to redo it because I cut something that I shouldn't have on the plastic, but it's fine for now. Then just made a quick blockoff plate for the old shifter hole in the plastic.

But it was to close to drivers seat for me. Right now I have it mock up, bolted to the front pass side hole on the factory mounting hole. That seems to put it where the stock shifter was and in the center of the dash.(Radio &
HVAC controls) I have a switch panel in place of the radio and hvac.
I'll get some pics when finish.
