Default MWC Anti-Roll Bar

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Midwest Chassis Anti-Roll Bar. It says they offer a weld-on version and a bolt-on version. What is the advantage to the weld on version? Anybody have any pictures of the mounting points? The picture on their website is tough to see. FYI, i am already running a MWC 9".

I'd say the biggest advantage to the weld-in version is strength. Second advantage is that that it mounts the heavy part of the bar up off the moving suspension, making the rearend lighter and easier to dial-in the suspension.

The disadvantage to the weld-in version is that you have to lose your stock gas tank and run a fuel cell.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they offer bolt-on and weld-in versions that mount under the rear, allowing you to keep the gas tank.

Hmm. I always think of a weld -in style like the wolfe style where the bar mounts up above the axle and the link mount tabs are welded to the housing. I think of a bolt-in style like a stock style bar but stiffer/larger diameter.

I will take pics of mine and post up tommorrow of the weld in version. The direct bolt in mounts to the stock mounting points on the body. The weld in mounts higher for what Eric told me is more leverage than the bolt in version. Correct me if i am wrong.

There is a bolt on and weld on version of the ARB that bolts to the rear end (uses the mounts that the factory sway bar mounts to) and you can keep the gas tank. The part that welds or bolts on is the body connection for the adjusters. In the first picture on either side you can see the welded on tabs that the top of the adjustment rod bolts to. The second picture shows the bottom of the rod and were the ARB assembly bolts to the rear end. The last picture is of the bolt in mounts for the top of the adjustment rod.

I'm assuming the brackets you bolt to the car in the factory place where you unbolt the sway bar mount, you can bolt on the new brackets and then weld around that for a extra piece of mind?

Thanks for the pics. After talking to Eric, he recommends a weld-in for any car that is drag raced frequently.

So does this bolt on with U-bolts like a factory sway bar? All the ones ive seen, seem to have a bracket welded to the axle tube. Dont know if thats how the fab rearends come or thats the piece that i weld on?

Mine came with the peice welded on the rear end and i was using the stock sway bar for years, then just switched to the mwc drag bar. It does not bolt on with u bolts. Look at my pics thats how the weld in bolts on to the rear end.

Those peices that hsesws6 posted pics are of the weld in for the the body. The weld in i have does not come with weld in peices to weld to the rear end itself just the body. The peices the drag bar bolts to are already on my mwc rear end. You would have to use a u bolt and a bushing or something to mount to a 10 bolt or buy the peices to weld in like i have on my rear end to use it.

Weld in version here. Great piece. Definitely didn't have to lose the stock gas tank.

Ok. Then i need to buy those brackets that are welded to the housing. I have a regular 9" housing, so i need those also.

There are a ton of pictures of my install in this thread below, I used the sway bar that welds in where the fuel tank went.

^^^^ That is the style of bar that is "typically" referred to as a "weld-in" style bar. The MWC bar looks like a nice piece, but it's really only welding the tabs where the links mount to the chassis, not the bar itself. Spohn, BMR and even UMI all have versions of a stock style bar that can have the link tabs welded to the chassis but really aren't considered a "weld-in" style bar. Kinda misleading IMO.

Talk to Eric at Midwest Chassis he will help you out with everything you need. But from what i see you will have to have those brackets for the bar.
