Default May 15, Cecil County MD, Vettes vs. Vipers American Super Car Challenge

Heads-up .500 tree for Vettes vs. Vipers (if none of them show up we will have to race each other). You will be part of one of the biggest Street Car race series (seen in Car Craft and Hot Rod magazine) which includes Pat Musi and our own Rick Moroso.

Four Classes
11.50
10.50
Unlimited stock suspension/trans
Unlimited modified suspension/trans

The American Super Car Challenge (Vettes and vipers) will be one of the dozen or so classes contested at the track. You can watch cars as low as 6 seconds when you are not racing.

Racer admission is $100 and covers all three days. Us Vettes can do time shots Friday and Saturday and then eliminations on Saturday. If you cannot do two days, just come Saturday.
Spectator only admission available but I am not sure of the price right now.

Did I mention television cameras and a promotional video being shot this weekend?

John an F-body cannot run in this class but they fit nicely into the EFI class which has ET breaks in .50 second intervals. Works a little different from ours but nonetheless a place to play. There are other classes that f-bodies can fit in but you have to paruse all the other class rules to figure them out.

Rules for other classes are here http://nsca-racing.com/forums/forumd...?s=&forumid=38

Neat link.

NSCA is limiting themselves by not allowing F-Bodies in that class, that class will be thin and slow otherwise.

Nice to see that NSCA set up a board though.

John, I had the same opinion of that class too. The EFI class is usually a whopping 6 to 8 cars in the NCSA. Most everyone tries to get into one of the normal heads up classes.

I have been hearing that the NSCA was reorganizing but I see that F-cars are relegated to some EFI index. Those indexes in the past have had poor turnout.

The NSCA is the same as it was. They have organized some newer heads up classes that are moving away from the term "street car" in favor of "race car". But the little dog classes for stock suspended cars don't exist in a format that we would be competitive in. The only class that would be close is limited street and drag radial. But even our fastest cars would be outgunned in those classes.

Any contact info at NSCA to appeal for a change in that Supercar class?

The buck stops with Patrick Budd over there. I thought about putting a message in their message board (www.nsca-racing.com) to that effect. I like to format of it, I really do. But I can see their point as to restricting it to Corvettes and Vipers for the most part. If they allowed our cars they should also include Mustangs. On the other and more practical hand, anything to get the car count up in those classes should be welcomed instead of shunned anyway.

Plus I believe many of the competitors in EFI could easily cross over to a bracketed heads up class. Just that the EFI stuff keeps a Index element in there for other cars to participate. It's very tough to service all tastes!

Looks like you can't compete anyway. Neither can Harlan. Looks like our popular choices of power adder is too big.

John and Derty, the Super Car Challenge coordinator is Ned Erkman ( ned@rollingthunderz.com ) Feel free to send him and email.

The class was really born for the Vipers and Vettes and the Mustang Cobra (whatever there top car is) has been considered. It is just starting and truthfully attendance has been VERY low but so has the marketing of the series. Basically it is just me trying to reach out to other Vette owners and a couple Viper guys trying to reach out to vipers.
