Welds are two piece wheels. That centersection will not rattle around when they are tight.

I run 15x3.5's and 5/16 spacer.

Default Is a 7/16" spacer too much for a Draglite?

I'm in the middle of putting some 15 x 5 (3.5" B.S.) Draglites on the front for everyday use. After 2 hours of grinding they clear with the 7/16" spacer but not the 5/16" spacer.I will install the longer studs, but need some input on whether the 7/16" spacer is too much on the front. Should be able to run the 5/16" spacer on the back with the 15 x 8's.
Also the Draglites have a metal piece that rattles around between the back where it touches the rotor & the front where they touch the lugnuts.Does this stay loose & rattle when driving or does it get sandwiched in there when you torque the nuts down?

Thanks John. That must really compress a lot in order for that not to rattle!

Anybody try the 7/16 spacer? I can grind some more to use the 5/16 one but the corner of that caliper is getting pretty thin.

With the 15 x 5 Draglite I had to grind quite a bit.I stopped grinding when they fit with the 7/16" spacer, only because the caliper was getting thin.Don't like running that big of a spacer but having a caliper break at the wrong time wouldn't be pretty.

ARE YOU GRINDING IT RIGHT I'M USING A 5/16 SPACER WITH ATLEAST 1/8TH " CLEARANCE FROM CALIPER AND RIM AND MY CALIPERS ARE VERY THICK STILL ATLEAST 5/8-3/4 "... I GROUND MINE ON THE CORNER AND SIDE BUT KEPT IT ABOVE THE CASTING LINE ON THE SIDE LIKE SO I ROUNDED IT I'D GUESS 3/8 ON THE TOP CORNER, NO MORE THAN 1/4 FROM THE SIDE NO MORE THAN 3/4" DOWN FROM TOP OF CORNER

THIS IS MY ATTEMPT AT A SCETCH LOL IF IT'S GETTING THIN YOUR GRINDING THE WRONG SPOT USE DYE AND GRIND ABOUT 1/8" AT A TIME AND KEEP RECHECKING SO YOU ONLY GRIND FROM THE TOUCHING SPOTS, I PUSHED HARD ON THE RIN AND TURNED IT I LOOKED AT THE SCRATCH MARKS AND TOOK ONLY MATERIAL FROM WHERE IT HIT ON THE CALIPER. MY CALIPER LOOKS THIS THICK FROM THE SIDE . GROUND MOSTLY HERE USED A BENT GRINDER WD-40 HELPS BUILD UP FROM HAPPENING WITH ALUMINUM

I'm using a similar method to grinding, but we are using 2 different style rims.Different rims & even different widths of the same rims need grinding in different places.

Thanks Stout Z !! I really didn't think about that. The caliper will ride back and forth to a certain extent to compensate for a warped rotor ,pad thickness ,rotor thickness ,etc, so it makes sense what happened to you. Thanks for giving us the heads up!

Here is something else that may help everyone from having to grind them again; replace your brake pads before you grind. I ground my calipers about 4 months ago and my 15X3.5's fit fine with no spacer. A couple of weeks ago I replaced the front brake pads (pretty worn) and new rotors (stock one's were warped) and low and behold the 15X3.5's would not fit. I had to grind them again because the extra pad had spread the caliper out to where it was touching again.

Just a little info so you don't have to do it twice like me.
