What size tire to run for 15x3.5" weld prostar...
I want to run a regular street tire up front, not an et front or anything like that...
Would I want to go w/ a 165/60/15 or 160/60/15??
I know lots of you run the "street tire" kind of tire..

Just go to Sears or Montgomery Wards and get a 165R15 (It is a Volkswagen tire, DO NOT tell them it is going on a Firebird or Camaro, they will swear it won't work, or they won't sell it to you because of their concern for your safety )

Goodyear front runners 26x4.5x15.
Not only do they look good and perform well. They are cool!

You can get two generic metric radials for $20-$30 each, while "real" front runners are $100 & up each, not really worth it for the average guy, although they are MUCH LIGHTER. The MT sportsman fronts are nothing more than a cheap metric radial with a different tread design.

They make 2 different Sportsman tires. That part # I listed is 8 ply rated for cars above 3000 lbs. The weight rating for that tire is considerably more than the p-metrics. I was going to go the cheap route and know many who have with no problems. But after talking to a few people have decided to go with Sportsmans. The increased weight rating and safety factor that goes with it is worth it for me. Just my .02

Here is the deal, I went to the local tire shop and asked them if they caried the 165/15. They did, and they had two brands. I asked him to grab them so I could check them out. One had a rating of 1150pounds at 30 psi and the other was the same at 45psi. I picked the one rated for 45psi because you will need to run them that high.

I went to SEARS today, I went in there asking for a beetle tire, a 165/60/15, they looked at me like I was dumb and he looked through his CPU breakdown thing and said that they don't carry a tire like that...

I believe the actual size your looking for is a 165/80/15. The Monarchs in that size are load rated at 1168 lbs per tire.
I'm in the middle of this right now.Because I don't feel comfortable with a 3.5" rim & the resulting small tire for everyday use,I'm going with the 15 x 5 Draglite(LOTS OF GRINDING) & a 175/80/15 BFG Touring T/A.This tire has a 26.0 Diam to match the back for ABS purposes,6.6" sect width & is load rated at 1323 lbs per tire. BFG suggests a 4.5 - 6.0" rim.Maybe you could try it on a 3.5" though.Discount tire can get them.

Well I finally found some that will do the trick I believe....I went to discount tire and I ordered the only tire they had which was a 165 R 15...he showed me what the older model looked like, and it looked ok, they are 35 psi tires, will that be ok??
I had to pay 66 bucks a piece for them, he said they go on a VW beetle..
