I just got back from New England Dragway and I'm pretty happy. The car should have more in it but the track has been crap ever since they redid it.
I know its not that good, but 1 second off the 1/4 mile from stock still makes for a fun ride.
Here is how the run broke down.

99 Z28 No weight removed but the front swaybar. Still had spare, jack and a full tank of gas in the car. (helped with traction)

congrats.. with that converter you should be around 12.3-5's this fall in better weather. Also your 60's will be in the upper 1.6's to 1.7's to <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Congrats!!! I was trying to break into the 12's today myself. I didn't make it though ;(

I'm an M6'er however. Ran pretty decent today, except on this run, I shifted from 3rd to 4th a little early. With this gear and a more accurate tach I should do much better.

My clutch is also giving out on me, but the SPEC Stage III Carbon should arrive Monday. Then MAYBE I'l be able to shift the car without letting off the throttle.

I headed out to Milan Dragway in MI today, and wound up with my new best:

Hi MightyLS-1. Nice. Couple of wks ago, on a 75 degree Sat, my A4 '02 SS went 13.21, 106.5, w/2.01 sixty w/Nitto's, boxed lca's, rt side airbag, HPP3, and shortbelt mod. Fantastic to run your first twelve. Your car and mods are a nice setup--if your are having traction problems--You might want to consider Hal shocks to adjust for track conditions. Anyway, c <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> ongratulations on the run. Cheers.

Yes, I will have to do something about traction soon. I was thinking of getting a set of ET streets to help hook up. I am leaving almost at idle to reduce the wheel spin, as such I am not using the converter to it's full potential and running with a full fuel tank to plant the tires. Do you think hals will help more than ET streets? If so would you think front or rear ones to start with. And yes the track conditions are almost always poor. Thanks all for the posts, I know the car has about 3 to 4 tenths left in it if I can nail the line and let the Vig3200 do it's job.

Lose some weight off that car and it will do much better. I run 12.9x's all day w/o headers, converter, and with 2.0-2.1 60'fts.

Stripping the car down is not the road I want to go down due to the fact that I want to have my strip times more in line with what I would normally run on the street. ie. lets say little Mr. Rice or Stang revs me or starts humping my leg (as I call it), I want to know that the only variables in this potential match up is me and the surface conditions, not the car also, more in line with the run what you brung sort of thing. But yes weight reduction would do wonders.

My car is similar to your setup and I have a 3200 vig. convertor. After I got the 3200 convertor, the only way I could hook up was with Hal Shocks front and back. I would get the Hals for the front to aid in weight transfer to the rear. Later on, I would get the Hals for the rear. I also have Hal drag springs on my car. This will assist in the 60 foot time for a better ET. It takes a few runs to get use to the Hal's for best settings. Nittos tires or similar work with this setup, but slicks will work better and be more consistent for 60 foot times. I average in the 1.65 to 1.75 range. My best on Nittos was 1.63. Tires on the front almost always come off the ground. I have metco control arms with relocation brackets and a RT Torque arm. I hope his helps. Good luck with your setup. Kent.

just some little info about nittos

for them to hook you have to back into the very edge of the water box, then start roasting.. get good smoke, then let off the brake and go ahead about 5-6ft to make sure your out of the box.. hit brake again.. set there for a few secs then burn them as far up to the tree as you can. This keeps nittos HOT!! Some guys will burn them in the box, then stop and drive up to the tree. This cools down the tire and on a crappy track they wont hook for crap. Even on a crappy track with a perfect burnout nittos are still a PITA to hook on(its a few tracks i will not run on since i cant hook to save my life on nittos)

i leave at about 100-200rpms higher than idle(car wont hold idle launches)

and i always 60 better launching around idle..I usually see a 1.60-1.64 60' on average on 245/16 nittos with a 1.58 best <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> i swear by these tires...

little advice also, check your tire pressure after EVERY PASS!! you psi will rise about 2-3psi after every burnout give or take <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
