New best 1/8 mile time with my small cam combo
Well I am still not running the numbers I want but not to bad.
Combo as follows ported heads,216/220 comp cam,stk intake, hooker long tubes, hooker y pipe with cut out,3.73 gear and yank tpe4400,
I ran a spining
7.46@90.9
1.62 60ft
weather was in the 90's track elevation is around 1000 ft.How much faster will it go in good air?all in all I am happy with the small cam but will be going to a different cam soon,as I now have ls-1 edit and can do some tuning.Next upgrades are aluminum driveshaft,ls6 intake and 15 inch rear wheels with slick instead of et streets.
I figure desity altitude was around 3750 for my best run.

the hot temps usually slow you down a solid 2 tenths and some cars get slowed down 3-4 possibly. Mine doesnt like hot weather
also watch yiour back to back passes with the high stall in those hot temps. She will heat up fast with that stall

Yeah I run a big trans cooler. Have never had a temp problem with it yet. but in this weather hot lapping is not a good thing
This new cam has a ton of low end power so it is hitting the tires way to hard. I got 1.5 60ft times last year. This year I couldnt buy a 1.5 60 ft My Goal is hi 6's in the 1/8 I would like to get there with this cam but may put one of my larger cams back in
Of course I will travel to a sea level track if need be

Yeah Justin I was,But Beachbend is also 600 ft less altitude plus not as soupy as the air here
I am putting on the intake this week and doing some more tuning. But my 60 ft times are sucking.Best 1/8 mile was 7.27 with the 228 cam.11.2 compression. After that I switched to lower compression engine (-4cc valve reliefs) and 222 cam. With my original heads that I ported went the slightly faster with this set up than the other. (both with superchips tuning.
New set up is stock short block,ls1 heads that I ported, stk intake ,long tubes and I just started tuning it with ls-1 edit.so far so good. Will come run it in BG sometime soon.
Have you ran the iron block set up yet?

Re: New best 1/8 mile time with my small cam combo
No i havent got to run the car but once this year thats when it caught on fire on the Dyno and locked the motor up at the track all within 1 hour. I had bad luck that day. One of Lpe's machinist built the short block few weeks ago and me and brian put the top end toghter 2 weeks ago. Im just waitin on my K-member and A-arms to come in. So hopefully ill get to run it in a week or so. Justin

cool let me know how iot does I think you made a good choice on the truck heads thats the direction I would have taken also. The mid Lift flow on those heads is killer. What valve sizes did you get?
