I have a 2000 SS vert M6, my car wieghs in at around 4010 lbs. with me in it (yeah I'm a fatass this number is the factory rating of 3750lbs + ME)

Mods: slp lid, 160 themostat, slp 85mm MAF, slp cold air induction, 8mm MSD wires, LS1 edit tuning, slp y-pipe, manual fan switch, slp line lock, mac rear end girdle, 3.73 gear, star stage III clutch and that's it.

I usually run BFG drag radials, I have a set of ET streets that I have used once but didn't have the line lock so my burnouts weren't great.

what do you guys suggest I do (other than lose wieght <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> ) to help me into the twelves
my fastest time is in my sig. and last friday with the weather being 80 degrees, 83% humidity, and the bar. was 30.02 I was a milan witch is at 550 I think, I ran a best of 13.284 @ 106.xx with a lot of other runs in the 13.3 range

by the way the 13.27 in my sig was with pretty much ideal weather in the fall on street tires, w/o the clutch line lock gear and girdle.

What rpms are you leaving at? Rpm shift points?

When my Hot Rod was kind of stock I would launch her at 4,000 rpms. This was with 28x10x15 M/T slicks and M/T front runners. I would shift at 5,800 rpms. I ran mid 12's to low 12's. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The weight of your Hot Rod is way high. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Maybe you should take out your back and passanger seats at the track only. The great thing is you can always put them back in when leaving the track. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

You could also have the limiter set to 6,800 rpms and shift at 6,500 rpms this would help.IMO <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Weight would help. If you are not running skinnies, get some. It's worth at least a tenth.
Your set-up will get 12.99 or better with that HP and weight.

You shouldn't have to do standing burnout with ET Streets after they are broke in. Just hold at 6000, outside the water, drop the clutch, and clean them off and stage. I liked 15psi for easy launches.

Hold 4500 at the light, and release clutch quickly but don't drop it. Go to the floor with the gas at the third yellow.

Shift as high as possible. My best et's with a stock 2000 SS were done shifting at 6400-6500 with limiter super-high (never found it).

Start pulling on shift lever prior to shifting, it won't pop out. When you get to 6400, stab the clutch to the floor hard and release instantly. Since you are already pulling (pushing), it will pop into the gear instantly. You can lift the throttle quickly or keep it to the floor. Keeping it floored is quicker, but rough on the synchros.

You will need a <1.9 60' at that weight to get a 12.

You can do it!! Practice. Your car is fast, you just need to show it who's boss.

thanks for all the help guys I will be trying all these techniques real soon hopefully this weekend.
I have another question. before I had the new gear(3.42 to 3.73) and clutch I was netting 109 to 111mph through the traps know I'm around 106 what's up with that!

Things that cause MPH loss:

Change to worse gearing (nope)
Headwind
HP Reduction (either high temps, altitude, or engine)

Did you have a headwind?

You certainly will lose HP in the summer.

Is your engine running as strong? Bent pushrods in M6 cars are a common reason for HP loss. Did you do a 3-2 or 2-1 Upshift at redline since your last outing?

Might wanna shell out $50 for a dyno session to make sure your motor is putting out the numbers still.

If your motor is great, no headwind, then it's just weather.

It was worth 0.2 on my car. Stock engine. No headers. Stock MAF. All smog in place.

The stock 2000 LS1 Fbody engine has alot of cam. Bone stock HP at 6250 is only 5 down from peak HP, and 6500 is only down 20 from peak.

Your powerband is the "fat" part of the curve, not the ramp leading up to it. You lose about 50rwhp by shifting at 6000 as you go into the next gear.

thats pretty strange for a six speed to run that slow of a time with that many mods. my 2002 ss auto ran 13.596@102.4 mph bone stock. im fixing to runn her againg now thst i have borla and a direct flow lid and nitto drag radials. sounds like to me that you have a pretty good set up compared to mine one thing i can recomend you paractice on is your 2/3 shift . but anyway goodluck and keep trying <img border="0" alt="[Camaro]" title="" src="graemlins/camaro.gif" />

I accually did take out my spare and jack buy I will some be replacing it with a sub <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> as for the sway bar I would like to leave it but this is starting to get frustrating so maybe next time I go

I lauch between 2500 and 3000 rpm with minimun wheel spin maybe the first couple few 5'max and then I hook without bogging,
shift points are as follows:
1st 5800 - have to because I hit the limiter otherwise
2nd 6200
3rd 6200
and ride out 4th
and my sixties do suck I average 2.08-10 with my best being 2.04
I also forgot to ad !EGR mod and TB bypass

well finally went to the track yesterday...and still no 12's I went 13.32@105.xx with a new best for a short time 2.03 so that worked ok the weather was pretty crappy.
90 deg., 93% hum., 30.02 barom., dew point 62deg.
so I think this fall with some better air I sould hit 12
