I'm planning on doing a cam in my 2000 TA and I need some input from you guys on who's running what and what combos work best.?? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I went 11.48@115 w/ a 1.64 60' this summer in 2400 DA' with stock heads and the TR230 cam. With the TR224 114 cam, the car went 11.50@121 on a 1.70 60' in negative 1500' DA this past winter.

I didn't install the 4.56s until after I had the 12-bolt in. I had 4:10s with the stock rear and broke the posi once. The 12-bolt was the best mod I have done yet.

First gear is not bad on the street. You really get used to it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

How do you like the clutch Jason99T/A that is now in your vehicle? Right now I'm stuck at 12.02 N/A. Although I'm running the stock 17' tires up front fully loaded as well. I plan on getting a set of skinnies and start reducing my weight as well "3650 lbs.". The last time out for me I think that my clutch is just not holding at all. I have the Z06 clutch with the updated hyd.'s as well.

Best i have been able to get out of the hotcam is 9.9,s@106MPH in the 1000'. Should easily net me some 11.9's in the 1/4. I did have to remove the rear seats, swaybar, and spare and jack for the 9's.
About the rears i broke mine 4 times before i switched. Stupid me.

There was a guy in a black SS two weekends ago at cecil with a cam and all bolt ons, and near full weight plus roll cage, 12 bolt, ET streets/skinnies, who ran an 11.44@122+ MPH on his first pass. The car had some design on the SS scoop, like gray carbon fiber maybe. I talked to him for a while, he doesnt spend any time on the boards at all. He said the car is doing around 420rwhp with no head work. Middle-aged - older fellow, real nice guy.

I drive an M6 and am new to the LS1's. Are you guys saying that just adding a cam to a bolt on car will produce a huge decrease in track times? If so, what are the average specs of the cams I should look for? Thanks ahead of time....

A cam, plus the valvetrain upgrades necessary, is a great mod for the LS1. It can add 30 horses or more (-.3 seconds ET, + 3 MPH trap speed, theoretically, at least). There are all kinds of cams out there for all kinds of applications. It just depends on how serious you want to go and how much you're willing to sacrifice. Jason runs Thunder Racing's 230/224 .575/.563 111 cam. And he has more than proven its worth on a car with stock heads. You can't hardly go wrong on a cam package from Thunder Racing. I'd also look at MTI's X1, Speedtek/FAStech's F1, LG's G5, just to name a few. Basically, you tell us here at LS1tech.com what you want out of your car as far as streetability, power, idle, sound, and other parameters that a cam change can have an effect on, and we'll tell you the closest match for you and why. You might also try doing a search on this site for (X1, TR 230, G5, F1, etc.) All are AWESOME cams. There are also more tame ones, it just all depends on what you want to do. Take care, and if you see a completely stock-looking white LS1 Z28 with non-tinted windows and a crazy-looking kid with his cap on backerds, you better recognize!
