Default Getting moderate to severe wheelhop. This sucks.

Ever since I added the 12 bolt w/ 4.11s I have wheel hop. Some days seem worse than others. After racing last night I decided I can't race anymore unless I fix it. I'm going to break/ruin something.

My car is:
'00 Formula 6 spd w/ 420ish rwhp N/A (best trap spd 120.95)
-3640 race weight - car 3,400(removed tire/jack) - me 240
-stock height
-Nittos
-12 bolt
-BMR tubular LCA
-LG Motorsports torque arm (non adjustable, thought that would solve the problem)
-Global West subframes

1)Should I get LCA relocation brackets? Will they work on a non adjustable torque arm?
2)Would removing the front sway bar help? more weight on rear suspension (bandaid fix)
3)Full tank of gas?
4)Different launching technique? I would still think there is something wrong w/ my setup if I could eliminate it this way.

I'm not sure what to do. Other than this, I love the way my car runs.

Any ideas would be really appreciated. How come all cars don't do this?

Bill, the track last night SUCKED!!! My 60 fts were 2.5 - 5 tenths off with severe wheel hop. When your spinning as bad as I was ( and obviously you also), it's gonna hop.My cure is ET Streets. Last night taught me that the only way to get decent #'s at Moroso is with a "MANLY" tire.It was such an embarassment that I'm not going back until I get some real tires. You've got the 12 bolt, go for the streets. If it doesn't spin it won't hop.
BTW my best 60 ft with no hop was with 3/4 tank of gas & no sway bar.

What psi do you run your nittos? What size are they?

My car, which never wheel hops on slicks, wheel hopped on drag radials when I ran 17 psi or less. This was on 275/60 15 nitto's ans the car would act up at the top of first gear--about 10 feet out. I found 21-22 psi to work best.

YES, you should remove your front swaybar. If you dont want to pull it all off just pull off the drivers side endlink. I recommend you pull the swaybar because it weighs 15 pounds.

Perhaps you should try an air bag in your right rear shock. This should help plant the right tire more.
Billingsley sells them individually ----->

Perhaps you should consider an E/T Street or an E/T Drag. When you spin on these tires it is nowhere near as violent. The slick simply spins and doesnt catch and wheelhop like a drag radial.

Hi Darryl, good seeing you the other night. Thanks for the encouragement. May end up w/ the ET streets but I really don't want to put in a cage right now. With the Nittos I'm on the edge so I don't think it will be a problem w/ the track.

Thanks Mike, I run w/ the stock 16 X 8 rims w/ 245s nittos on the back. Usually run 16-18 lbs of pressure.

I'll take off my front sway bar and run w/ 21 to 22 lbs of pressure tonight see what happens.

I would try a poly trans mount first.
It's cheap and will probably fix the problem.
I had whhel hop after I put my 12 bolt in.
(I already lca's)
I had a BMR trak pak and a poly trans mount
and it fixed the problem.

Hope this helps.

I second the poly trans mount. Made a world of difference on my car (all stock suspension).

I'll give the transmission mount a try.

Thanks

I vote for the trans mount too. when I had Nitto's for daily driving I had wheel hop pretty bad, but like Mike on slicks I never have wheel hop.

a poly trans mount will help though.

Doesn't that poly mount transmit a lot of noise & vibration into the interior?
