Default New drag tire time. Need help

I have been runnig a 26/10/15 ET Drag on my cam only car cutting 1.46-1.48's when they were new. I was still cutting 1.52-1.54's with them yesterday with the cord showing Anyway it's time to get new tires (race only) I would say

I'm trying to decide if I want to get the new MT Drag Radials or anouther set of ET Drads to fit on my 15x8 rims. Which would hook better and more consistant?

Also wondering if I should step up to a 28" tire because I'm running a 4l60e w/ 3.? first gear, 3.73 gears, and a TCI 4400 w/ 2.8 str that hits very hard off the line?

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

If you go to the 28's you may need to do some clearencing it to them on your car. Also, the rearend may not last very long if it is still a 10 bolt.

We have the same concern with my Dads car(01 Z/28 346 H/C with a 10 bolt). I think we are going to stay with the 26x10.5x15's until we put a 12 bolt in her.

Good luck,
Coach

Thanks for the reply Coach. I have a built 8.8 in mine though I think I have decided to stay with a 26" tire as long as I can. With my gearing 3.73's and redline 6700 I cross the 1/4 around 5900 and it would be lower with 28's

Only question now is to stay with an 26" Drag or try the 275/50/15 MT Drag Radials?

From what I have seen the new M/T drag radials hook as good as the ET Streets. We use the ET Drags though and have had great luck with them. I am fixing to purchase another set today!

Hey, if you were at Steele Sunday.. I saw you there. I was in the NBM WS6, I spent most of the day tuning on the Silverado SS and the H/C WS6 that was parked over there close to you. If it was a "race only" tire, you'd be hard pressed to find anything as good at what you are running now, ET drags hook damn good. The 26in tire would be alot easier to live with than the 28's.

Yes, that was a forged 348 that I had put together for that guy. He was having some clutch issues, but it still ran pretty good for the first time at the track. I didn't run the NBM WS6, it was parked beside the Silverado SS.

I am debating the same thing myself, Do I go with the drag tire and save the weight or do I go with the radial and gain stability. Hard to say for sure.

Normally aspirated. The engine only has about 200 miles on it, he's going to spray it after it gets some miles on it. I was happy with that 125.7mph trap on the first trip out!!

I may be missing your discussion boys, but my new MT/DR 275/40/17 aren't lightweights each tire weighs like 28 lbs. They will bust your ***** and give you a hernia, but those ****'s will grab better than the BFG and Nittos. It's a fact.
