Burnout Question
What exactly is the least abusive method for the stock clutch and drivetrain to do a burn out? 2500 to 3000 RPM quick release and then jump on the brake, or something more like 4500 to 5000 RPM? I tried holding the brake and gassing with my right foot but I smelled an acrid smell after doing that may have been clutch. Not sure, but I don't want to do that again. Exactly how much of this type of abuse can the stock clutch take? When I have tried jumping on the brake quickly the car tends to slew sideways quite badly in the time that it has to roll. Is the solution simply get on the brake faster, or is that normal? If I ever go to the track I don't want to run over any innocent bystanders while attempting to do a burnout. Thanks.

line lock is your best bet. Like mentioned above, once you use one, you'll wish you would have purchased it sooner.

Why would a linelock help the clutch? Seems like it would still require about the same procedure as far as the clutch goes; you just don't have to try and jump on the brake to keep from moving. Or am I missing something here? Thanks.

Most folks whom do not have a LL use the brakes and overcome the rear brakes. They do this to control movement on the car. This stresses the clutch as well as other driveline components to a higher degree as you need to overcome the rear brakes which are trying to stop the driveline. As an analogy, towing a trailer can have the same effect....the rotors as well as the brakes won't last too long either.
If you’re not using your brakes, and dropping the clutch, then your burnout certainly isn't going to be very controlled as you’re going to move forward, sideways etc.

get a line lock... then you wont stop doing burnouts. Linelock is easy, Pull into box. press brake firmly, flip switch and feel it engage, then let off clutch and floor it like your racing. I keep it around 4-5k, then when you think your tires are hot enough flip the switch and stay on the gas and roll out of it to the lights. That simple

O.K., everyone said get a line lock. How bout how to do a proper burnout.1st pull into water and dump the clutch and do a short spin to get the tires wet. 2nd(this is where a lot of people screw up) pull out of the water about 5 feet and apply your line lock and do a big smokey (wait till you see smoke in your miror)burnout and stage. You don't know how many people I see do there hole burnout in the water or just not a long enough burnout and then wonder why there 60ft's suck. With just a adjustable torque rail and LCA I have cut a 1.56 60ft. with stock springs and shocks.
