Default minitubs

don't laugh too hard, this is my first attempt at them

www.nd.edu/~caschenb/minitub

not done yet, but very close.

i should point out that the big globs are sealant (worried about smoke getting into car after burnouts)

AWESOME! At least you got the ***** to do it. I wanna do it also just so i can stick a big tire on. I dont care if my car doesn't have big ***** for it, at least it looks good. I see alot of tubbed old school cars at the track only running 12s,11s. Good job. Are you going to be leaving the car all gutted like that or are you gonna put some carpet back in?

Nice! It takes guts to take on a project like that with no experience!

haha, yeah....was a little worried about how they would turn out. took some ***** to start cutting on my 2002 TA (7000 miles on the OD LOL)...... Been working on the car like mad for a while now......

as far as the interior goes......we're going to put the carpet and some of the interior back in. car won't have a center console and i've got a Kirkey seat for it. should look good and be pretty darn light with my narrowed 9 inch rear.

As for motor plans.........
I've set up a new direct port system for it www.nd.edu/~caschenb/dpnitrous/ls2 which we're going to run with my old faithful 346 motor that I threw together last year to get my NHRA licence (and hopefully turn some much faster times than last year).

I've got a 402 13:1 solid roller motor I'm building and will be in the car soon with a 'glide......it's a lot more serious than what's currently in the car

oh, as far as tips......

My buddies and I used the following: sawzaw (I bought one just for this project and its worth the 100 bucks let me tell ya), air hacksaw, several grinders (angle), 10,000,000 cuttoff wheels and sawzaw blades, and a few cases of bud light and maybe one case of miller. I do not recommend the miller.......

it's honoestly not very hard.....it just takes patience and a lot of time. you better be pretty handy with a welder too (my little Lincoln 125 MIG worked perfect for this).

Hmm...that a food excuse to buy a new Welder...and or buy the new Welder and that gives me a good excuse to buy tubs. Where did you get the tubs from? Looks pretty damn good to me.
Anyway the rear plastics will go back in? Never looked to see how much room is behind those panels, just ripped them off, welded rollbar in and threw em back in.

I bought a minitub kit from summt but it was worthless. I made everything from 20 gage steel except the inner parts (you can cut these out of a 20 gage sheet just as easy as buying them).

i can tell ya from working in a chassis shop for a limited time and having mini tubbed a few coupe mustangs, that your TA has turned out real good.

it is much easier to make your own tubs from 20 gauge sheet too. unless you are getting a quality tub kit that is proven you are better off doing your own.

good job man.
