Default Smaller radiator question

I would like to cut out the upper radiator support and weld a new upper support out of square tubing. I would also like to cut the lower support and make it level so the radiator would stand up.

First question is would there be enough cooling with a smaller radiator on an all track car?

And has anybody done this? I am installing a PTE-88 and would like some more room.

Are you talking about a drag strip, or a road track? If it's strictly a drag car, of course it will be fine. You could get an electric water pump to cool it off between passes, if it even needed it at all.

I recently moved to a small Griffin. Drag race only. No problems. Keeps the SS at 180 or lower - even in the staging lanes. Turn on the fans (I use only one of the original fans) and keeps in the 170-175 range. No cutting needed. Just measured the size needed to fit inbetween the braces. I'll attach a picture of the engine bay. Really cleaned up the looks of it.

I had a Scirocco sized up for mine, but switched to my current dual pass. The Scirocco went into a alcohol car.

Not sure of the size right off hand - the car is in its trailer up to the shop. I did NOT have to cut the top support. It fits between the top and bottom support. I get a chance I'll measure it.
