- just like the title says, what is it, try to include humidity and as many other variables as possible. Im assuming perfect is; 50's, 0 humidity and sea level, correct me if im wrong. Im tired of people putting bad weather as an "*" after their times, and yes i have read my sig before

my guess would be 0% humidty, below sea level or as close to sea level as possible, about 40 degrees F.....but then again I dont know how cold is too cold or if there even is such a thing. Good question tho!

There is no "perfect" air.

Here the the better conditions:
Temperature- The lower the better
Dew Point- The lower the better
Barometric Pressure- The higher the better

The ideal type situation would be:

A drag strip located in the dead sea which is about 30 ft below sea level. On a -10°F day with the dew point being -30°F and a high pressure system bringing 34 in of HG.

The problem is at some point the track becomes to cold and even though you are making better power the track cant hold it.

I would say the "best" is probably:

Temp Low 60's on a clear sunny day
Dew point 34°F
Baro Pressure around 32 or so

Much colder than that and the track isnt gonna hook cause it is to cold.

The best weather I raced in was last winter, -1900 ft. DA. I don't remember what the factors were, but the temperaturte was in the high 30s and the track I race at is 14 ft. above sea level.

- thanks for the input, 93ls1rx7 mentions a 34 degree dew point temp. is that another way of measuring humidity cause i usually see humidity measured in %'s or does humidity have nothing to do with the dew point. Sorry for being picky but ive been waiting for good racing weather and want to squeeze every bit out of my car

the dew point is the temperature at when dew will form. Humidity IIRC would refer to how much moisture is actually in the air.

Same thing really if you look at a psychrometric chart you will see how dry bulb temp, humidity and dew point all correlate.

Some places give you dew point some give humidity some give actual saturation.

If you have one and need another look at the psychrometric chart you can get anthing else you need to know.

Just for giggles.......the dead sea is around 1349 feet below sea level. Have a 32 baro day there with cool temps and you would fly.....if you had a drag strip.

a cold fall day is going to be better than a cold spring day IMO. the ground is still warmer from the summer, where in the spring it can still be frozen, making the track itself colder.

Not to mention, the track is typically "green" at the beginning of the season in the spring - in the fall it should be stickier.

Al
