Have any of you ran out of gas at the track?
So, have you?
I plan on running 1/2-1/4 *little less* when I run at the track this opening season. Do they have regular octane gas there like 93, or do they only usually carry race gas? Have any of you put like a small 1-2 gallon bottle of gas in the hatch *obviously not the SAFEST idea if you crashed, and the fumes possibly* in case you ran out at the track and didn't have to purchase race gas? What is your strategy for running at the track on almost an empty tank, then having enough gas to get to a gas station?

I wouldn't reccomend that. i always leave a little pile of stuff in the parking lot when i go to the track. Street tires, jack, tools, floor mats, rear hatch divider, jumper cables, quart of oil, quart of tranny fluid, jug of water, electric impact every ounce counts.

Haha, well since I would go by myself...Would it be really safe to just leave things in the little lot without supervision? Eh, I don't know. I don't usually bring much to the track, and having a gallon of gas just sitting there would be kind of interesting.

I have run out of gas a few times.
Also used to pile up car with tools/tires/jack to the track and would park near a pole and chained that mess up, but not like someone could not take stuff, luckily things were OK. I have only been worried about things a few times but when that happens I usually pack up and leave, not worth the headaches....

My track sells 93 octane so i never needed to worry about gas. "But" I did run the car low after doing a bunch of work to it and never go a chance to drive it to see if the gauge read right ,and it launched then the gas sloshed to one side and burnt every spack plug and burnt an exhaust valve. Thats on motor plus 325 rwhp shot of nitrous.

I dont know about Fbodys, but in DSMs if you run on 2 low of GAS and 60foot hard you can run into a lean problem and messing up the feul pump.
If you on slicks launching hard, I would put a fair amount in...
