Default experimental setup Mk. II

As some of you do or don't know, I'm half obsessed with induction on our cars...since that's the easiest way to add HP to any car. Well, I found something of interest while wandering around the back of an Autozone

Gonna set them up like this

And gonna put it in place of my PVC pipe that replaced my air-silencer. Any suggestions/predictions? Here's what I got so far

Pros

1. It'll produce nearly the advantages of an open throttle-body but without the dangers of having an unprotected throttle-body
2. cool air brought in from the airdam would still be accessible
3. Won't hold as much heat as PVC pipe tends to

Cons

1. Engine heat may contaminate the cool air from the airdam

Might just be picking up a lot of hot air doing that honestly. For that motor I bet a good lid gives you about the most power your going to see.

Noted...if it doesn't work, just another $12 down the drain...

ok, took it out for a modest run in heavy Newport news traffic and after about 5 minutes, the oil gauge drops to zero, engine shuts off too (bye-bye power steering )....so I limp over to a local gearhead's house, interrupt his dinner so that he can take a look at it. I put the tried-and-true PVC pipe back in and he added 2.5 quarts of oil. Didn't have any problems on the way home, but I babied it the rest of the ride there.

Bad sender or oil pump?

For now, all experiments are on hold

If he had to add that much oil I think the problem is obvious.

Also you're going to pick up alot of hot air and turbulence with that air filter setup.

I have seen cars make 550RWHP through a lid setup normally aspirated..nuff said.

FYI there is already a better mousetrap.
