Question HELP: how to launch a M6 car on street tires?

the best 60' i could manage on my set up (mods on sig) is a 2.2, can my rear hold a set on DR's? looking for a 1.9 60' on street tires, is it a lost cause on a lowered car?

Being lowered definately doesn't help your cause.. The Eibach Sportlines need to go for sure. Those springs suck at the track.

Put some Nittos or BFGs on the car and try launching at different rpms.. Start at like 1500rpms and work your way up. You could probably leave at 2500rpms or so with the Nittos. You might have to slip the clutch a little bit as you give it gas.. You just have to play with it alot until you find that fine line.

Do not put the M/T DRs on your car.. You will bust the 10bolt in no time with those tires.. lol

BS...I have MT's on my stock car with stock 10 bolt and they hold fine. I've done several launches at ~5K and it just hooks and goes. I ease into the clutch so it doesn't shock the rear. I've managed 1.97 on stock Goodyear F1's. You just have to ease into the clutch then stomp on it. Street tire launches are ususally from about 1800RPM or so. That 1.97 was at 32psi too. Next Saturday I'm going to the track and going to try 20psi in the street tires and heating them up pretty good and see what it'll do. Before I had only lowered pressure to about 25psi and it didn't make a bit of difference.

Be very gentle. Ease into it softly. The best I could do was 2.0.

I cut a 1.9 60' tonight in nitto DR's launching at about 3500 rpms. I'm pretty sure it could be better, I've only been down the track 7 times. But like its been said, you have to find the thin line where your car will hook with minimal wheel spin.

Whatever boss man.. You'll be thinking different when you bust that piece of **** 10bolt.. And I see that your car is 'stock'.. Lack of power is the only reason your rearend is still intact..

The original poster is an LT1 with minimal engine mods. He'll get along just fine with MT's. I have at least 125 runs on the car with just the slips I can easily find. Most have been on street tires but at least 20 have been on the MT's. I have no leaks or other funny noises from the rear. It dynoed 327.8hp which isn't exactly weak for a stock SLP 345HP car. I plan on eventually getting a 12 bolt so I can really launch hard and not worry about breaking the rear.

You're on borrowed time launching at 5k RPM with MT street radials on a 10 bolt. There is NO gray area.

Just because you have been extremely lucky that your rear end hasn't puked all over the track doesn't mean that his rear end will survive one launch like that. Giving the starter of this thread bad advice like that is ignorant.

Doing it for several runs in a row is bad advice because I haven't broken anything? There's guys out there running low 11's on the stock 10 bolt. It's usually guys with 4.10's blowing out the rears because the 4.10 gearset is smaller and weaker than the 3.42 gears. I've had several people tell me that I shouldn't worry about the 10 bolt so much. I understand it is a weak point when you start making well over 400HP but common, everybody's scared it's gonna break if you look at it wrong. If you slip the clutch it doesn't put the shock on the rear and eats the clutch before the rear.

in my case with my LIGHTWEIGHT flywheel and lowered turd of a car..... practice makes perfect, and a set of nittos would help too.

1.85's with the DR's. I'm REALLY not pushing it that hard. There's more in it but I'm being easy on it.
